Vox Obscura Guide (Craftable Dead Messenger, Risen Loot) Exotic Mission Rotator in Destiny 2
Vox Obscura Has returned and with it comes a craftable Dead Messenger, as well as a range of great weapons and armor from Season of the Risen. Today I’m going to run through the mission guide, plus check out the loot in more detail, as Vox Obscura has returned via the Exotic Mission Rotator in Destiny 2.
Without further delay, let’s check out the exotic mission. To access it you’ll want to select it in the Legends tab via the Director. The exotic mission rotator only features one exotic mission per week. At the time of publishing this guide it’s featured, but there are currently 2 others in the rotation including Presage and Operation Seraph Shield.
Vox Obscura Guide
Destiny 2 introduced the Vox Obscura quest during the Season of the Risen. Once you’ve successfully finished the quest, you’ll earn an exotic grenade launcher called the Dead Messenger.
Now that you’ve arrived on Mars, your task is to infiltrate the Psion base. Access the base’s hangar through the back wing by hacking the door. Afterward, you’ll encounter a group of Psions and turrets before gaining control of one of the Interceptors. The Interceptor’s cannons can destroy a marked wall, creating an exit into The Barrens.
Phase 1
As you exit, your first objective is to clear the airfield before orbital bombardment commences. Failure to complete this task within the time limit results in a wipe, requiring you to start over. During this phase, your team must defeat a Goliath Tank to clear space for Caiatl. Use ranged weapons for a quicker tank takedown
Next, an Unstoppable Champion spawns inside a small building; focus on eliminating it. Following the Unstoppable Champion’s elimination, Amanda Holliday provides you with a Drake Tank for the next encounter.
Now it’s time to go into the Scablands, which are full with Cabal. Avoid engaging them to preserve your tank’s health for the upcoming challenges, including more Goliath Tanks, shielded signal towers, and a substantial troop defense. Prioritize taking down the Goliath Tanks, and once they’re eliminated, focus on the signal towers. These towers can be destroyed by detonating the generators, targeting the blue-marked weak spots for optimal effectiveness. Once the towers are down, the timer halts, and the second encounter begins.
Phase 2
This phase starts after you enter the control room within the base. You’ll confront another Unstoppable Champion and an Incendior named Ba’Aruk.
After defeating them, descend to the lower floors via exhaust ports. Exercise caution as the area contains vents emitting damaging blue flames. Upon reaching the lower floor, you’ll face three shielded Psion Codewardens led by their commanders. Defeating them grants access to the control room, setting the stage for the final part of the mission.
Boss Fight – Qabix, Insurgent
The boss is called Qabix. You’ll find yourself trapped in a Void energy bubble, which can be easily shattered with any non-explosive weapon. To escape, shoot the glowing spots on the bubble’s exterior. You’ll need to clear a swarm of Psions and Scorpius turrets to make Qabix vulnerable.
In the control room, there are three suspended Psion Commanders that you must eliminate to inflict more damage on Qabix. Repeat this process twice, and when you finally defeat the boss, the 10-minute timer will stop.
Head to the top of the control room, and access the chest room on the right of the control panel. Upon opening the chest, you’ll receive the Dead Messenger exotic grenade launcher as your reward.
That covers everything you need to know to complete the Vox Obscura quest in Destiny 2.
