Season of the WitchWeapon Reviews

How to get Tessellation (Exotic Fusion Rifle) in Destiny 2

Tessellation is the first Final Shape Exotic, and it’s available in the game right now if you pre-order the next Destiny 2 expansion. Today I’m going to check out the stats, the perks, plus why it’s unique in the sandbox right now. The build up to The Final Shape can officially begin, and we already have an exotic to play with in Destiny 2.

Tessellation is a Final Shape Exotic weapon, and by all means you can wait for the expansion to get it. However, if you are a Destiny 2 super fan and you want to pre order the Final Shape expansion, then there’s a nice pre order bonus available in the game right now with Tessellation. This is similar to Quicksilver Storm, which was made available before Lightfall as a pre order bonus.

How to get Tessellation

To get Tessellation you’ll need to pre-order The Final Shape + Annual Pass on your platform of choice. Once you have made your order, then you’ll want to log out of the game then back in. Once you log back in you’ll be able to pick up the Tessellation from the Tower.

Tessellation

Let’s have a look at Tessellation in a little more detail:

  • Undecidable – This weapon adapts its damage type to match your equipped subclass. Final blows grant grenade energy.
  • Irreducible – Consume your grenade to load a large projectile that generates an elemental explosion on impact.
  • Polygonal Rifling – Barrel optimized for recoil reduction.
  • Projection Fuse – Increases range.
Composite Stock – This weapon has a versatile dual-purpose stock.

The Undecidable perk is what makes this one very unique. Given the weapon can match the element of the subclass, this means you can run a full stasis or strand build for the very first time, with this being in the energy slot. This is still going to be great for the Light subclass elements, but what makes this very interesting is on strand and stasis builds. Irreducible is also very good because you gain the ability to load in that large projectile and get the elemental damage explosion on impact.

Tessellation Catalyst

The Tessellation Catalyst isn’t available in the game right now, it’s likely to be made available when The Final Shape releases in February 2024. We don’t know much about the catalyst at the moment, but if Quicksilver storm is anything to go by then the catalyst will be super powerful.

Overall, I think it’s a unique and powerful exotic weapon, especially on Strand and Stasis builds. Try running all the same elements in every weapon slot, plus pair this with an exotic that compliments. For example, I’ve been running this with a Strand build on Warlock with Necrotic Grips.

Let me know in the comments what you think.
