Season of the Deep

Best weapons to get after the Mid-Season 21 Patch in Destiny 2

Bungie was back recently with details on their mid-season patch, meaning we know have a good idea about what weapons are going to be good later on this season. Today I’m going to check out the patch notes, plus which weapons are good to add to your watch list in Destiny 2 Season of the Deep.

Lightweight bows

Change:

Increased fixed damage falloff start distance from 15m to 25m.
Increased fixed damage falloff end distance from 20m to 45m.
Increased final accuracy by ~10%.

Whispering Slab

The lightweight bows are decent as you get that buff to movement speed when you are holding the weapon. While Whipsering Slab is an older weapon these days, it’s still good if you can get a decent roll. For PVP you’ll want to look out for Opening Shot and Firmly Planted and PVE Demolitionist and Archer’s Tempo. You can pick this one up from Xur or Banshee-44 when they sell it.

Tyranny of Heaven

This is another decent lightweight bow, also good because you can somewhat target farm this weapon in the Last Wish Raid. Archers Tempo and Explosive Head is a good roll, which works well in both PVE and PVP. Sneak Bow is available if you want something a little more PVE focused, plus you have Moving Target if you want a little more PVP focus for this weapon.

Lightweight Shotguns

Change: Reduced the spread angle of the outer horizontal pellets by 15%.

Reckless Endangerment

Reckless Endangerment is a static roll weapon and it comes fully masterworked already, plus it has a great choice of perks, which you can mix and match to suit most playstyles.

Full Choke – Tightened barrel. Reduced projectile spread, but removes precision damage multiplier. Popular for shotguns in PVP.
Assault Mag – This shotgun’s magazine is optimized for quick combat. Greatly increases stability and increases the rate of fire.

Then you have a choice for the third slot between

Perpetual Motion – This weapon gains bonus stability, handling, and reload speed while the wielder is in motion or
Steady Hands – Kills provide improved handling for all weapons for a short duration
Finally, you have a choice for the fourth slot between

Swashbuckler – This weapon gains increased damage from melee kills and kills with this weapon or
Snapshot sights – Faster time to aim down sights

Get this one from the Monument to Lost Lights in the Tower.

Xenoclast IV

A good PVE roll for this would be Dual loader, which reloads two shells at a time instead of one and Trench Barrel where after a successful melee hit the weapon gains increased damage. It also rolls with One-Two Punch which is always good for builds in PVE and the new perk Thresh too, where you can gain super energy on kills.

For PVP Slideshot and Killing Wind would be a good roll. Slideshot and Thresh is a very popular roll of this weapon out there with the community right now. Disruption Break could also be a good choice for PVP.

You can pick this one up from Zavala in the Tower by focusing Vanguard engrams.

Wastelander M5

For PVE Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Perpetual Motion and Trench Barrel would be a decent roll. Rifled Barrel Increases range and greatly decreases handling speed. Assault Mag greatly increases stability also the rate of fire. Perpetual Motion is a new perk, where the weapon gains bonus handling, stability and reload speed while the wielder is in motion. Trench Barrel is the classic perk, made famous by the Ikelos Shotgun, after a successful melee hit the weapon gains increased damage, handling, and reload speed for a short duration – or until three shots are fired.

For PVP Full Choke, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot and Opening Shot would be good. Full Choke tightens the shotgun barrel and reduces the pellet spread. Accurized Rounds increase range. Slideshot partially reloads the weapon’s magazine and boosts range and stability. Finally, Opening Shot improves the accuracy and range of the opening shot of the attack.

You can get this from Dares of Eternity or from Xur inside the Eternity node.

Graviton Lance

Change:

Increased PvE damage by 67%.
Removed the extra aim assist provided by the catalyst.
Reduced the damage dealt by the Cosmology explosion by 40% against players.

Graviton Lance is an Exotic Energy Pulse Rifle, another random exotic drop or you can pick it up from Xur. Let’s check out the perks on this one.

  • Black Hole – Second shot of a burst rips a hole through space-time, doing high damage and recoil with no falloff.
  • Cosmology – Kills with this weapon cause enemy targets to detonate and spawn Void projectiles that track targets.

Graviton Lance goes well with our Void synergy for the build, but is also great for dishing out damage to our smaller enemies that have been trapped by our super. If you can super into a large amount of smaller enemies, then you’re going to get a lot of your super back and then pick them off with Graviton Lance. When you get kills with this weapon, it’s going to activate Cosmology meaning void projectiles go after nearby enemies – making this one really useful for picking off groups of ads from distance or mopping up anything your super didn’t take care of.

Gutshot Straight

Change: Reduced auto aim penalty by 37.5%.

Zaouli’s Bane

For PVE Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Explosive Payload and Incandescent would be a good roll.

Smallbore – Increased range and stability
Accurized Rounds – Increases range
Explosive Payload – Projectiles create an area-of-effect detonation on impact.
Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.

For PVP Hammer Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Explosive Payload and Eye of the Storm is a good roll.

Hammer Forged Rifling – Increases range
Accurized Rounds – Increases range
Explosive Payload – Projectiles create an area-of-effect detonation on impact.
Eye of the Storm – This weapon becomes more accurate and boosts handling as your health gets lower.

To get this one you’ll have to run the King’s Fall Raid. This means you’ll need 5 other Guardians to run with, which you can either find through friends, clanmates or via LFG. If you do need to find them through LFG try the Bungie app.

There are 3 places you can get this from in the raid; The Golgoroth encounter (4th boss), The Daughters (5th boss) or by beating Oryx (Final Boss). There are also secret chests throughout the King’s Fall raid and if you have the weapon drop for you already, then there’s a chance it’ll drop from the secret chest too. Finally, there’s a vendor at the end of the raid where you can trade in Spoils of Conquest for King’s Fall weapons.

Ammit AR2

Ammit-AR2 is a Legendary Energy Auto Rifle with a Precision Frame meaning this weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical.

For PVE Arrowhead Brake, Flared Magwell, Ambitious Assassin, and Incandescent would be good.

Arrowhead Brake – Greatly controls recoil, Increases handling speed
Flared Magwell – Slightly increases stability, Greatly increases reload speed
Ambitious Assassin – Overflows the magazine based on the number of rapid kills before reloading
Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius

For PVP Arrowhead Brake, Ricochet Rounds, Dynamic Sway Reduction, Tap The Trigger

Arrowhead Brake – Greatly controls recoil, Increases handling speed
Ricochet Rounds – Increases stability, Slightly increases range
Dynamic Sway Reduction – Improves accuracy and stability while continuously holding down the trigger
Tap The Trigger – Grants a short period of increased stability and accuracy on initial trigger pull

This one is a world drop weapon, but you can get it from the crafting tutorial on Savthun’s Throne World.
