Season of the Seraph

Best Weapons to Craft before Lightfall

Lightfall is only a few weeks away now, and with the arrival of the next DLC, that means some seasonal content is going away, and potential with that the ability to craft some of the best weapons we have in the game. Today I want to focus on the weapons to craft before Lightfall rolls around, how to get that pattern, so you can craft as god roll of your own, whenever you want in Destiny 2.

Before we get stuck into it today you’ll want to get yourself to the Enclave on Savathun’s Throne World and check out The Relic. This is where all crafting takes place. You will need to complete an introduction quest if you haven’t interacted with it before, plus you’ll need various materials. The most important thing you will need though are weapon patterns, which you can get by either leveling up or dismantling red bordered weapons. How many you need depends on the weapon, but it’s normally between 3-5. Once you have crafted these weapons, then leveling them up by using them to unlcok perks, and hey presto… any roll combination available at The Relic is yours.

Without futher delay, let’s dive into best weapons to craft before Lightfall.

BXR55 Battler (Pulse Rifle)

The BXR-55 Battler is a Legendary Energy Pulse Rifle dealing Solar damage and it comes with a custom frame called the Legacy PR-55 Frame. This means it’s a customized frame with dramatically increased accuracy, stability, and targeting while hip firing.

For PVE Corkscrew Rifling, Accuried Rounds, Outlaw, and Kill Clip would be a decent roll. For PVP Chambered Compensator, Steady Rounds, Snapshot Sights, and Rangefinder would be good. To get this one it’s a random drop from the Dares of Eternity or you can get it from Xur’s Treasure Hoard and open up Xur’s treasure chest.

Firefright (Auto Rifle)

Firefright is a Legendary Kinetic Auto Rifle with a Precision Frame meaning the weapon’s recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. Firefright is a great auto rifle, with a decent perk pool. For PVE Corkscrew Rifling, Light Mag, Fourth Time’s The Charm, and Focused Fury would be a good roll. For PVP Hammer-Forged Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, Fragile Focus and Elemental Capacitor would be a decent roll.

To get this one you have to have Season of the Haunted, given it’s a seasonal weapon. You can get this one to drop from the Nightmare Containment activity, and it has the chance to drop at the end. Make sure you have enough Vestiges of Dread to get that extra loot from the activity, as it’s not only the loot chest you want to look out for but the glowing red thing behind the chest. Interact with that, and you should get seasonal loot to drop.

Ikelos SMG v1.0.3 (Submachine Gun)

Ikelos SMG v1.0.3 is a Legendary Energy Submachine Gun with an Aggressive Frame meaning High damage, high recoil. Looking at the stats Impact 23, Range 44, Stability 25, Handling 62, Reload Speed 24, Aim Assistance 37, Airborne Effectiveness 13, Rounds Per Minute 750 and Magazine 28. This one has the Origin Trait Rasputin’s Arsenal. Breaking a target’s shield reloads the magazine. For PVE Corkscrew Rifling, Seraph Rounds, Perpetual Motion, Voltshot. For PVP Hammer forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Killing Wind, and Rangefinder

To get this SMG you are going to need to find Rasputin’s nodes which are found in hidden locations around the solar system. There is a chance you’ll get a red border version of the weapon when it drops from the node. If you go to the H.E.L.M. you can also buy Ikelos weapons from Clovis Bray, our Seasonal Vendor for Season of the Seraph. You can upgrade the perks on the table at Clovis Bray to access more Ikelos weapon features, plus you can give yourself a chance at more red bordered versions of the weapons.

Zaouli’s Bane (Hand Cannon)

Zaouli’s Bane is a Legendary Energy Hand Cannon with an Adaptive Frame meaning it has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. All King’s Fall weapons come with the perk Runneth Over, where reloading near allies overflows the magazine. For PVE Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Explosive Payload and Incandescent would be a good roll. For PVP Hammer Forged Rifling, Accurized Rounds, Explosive Payload and Eye of the Storm is a good roll.

To get this one you’ll have to run the King’s Fall Raid. There are 3 places you can get this from in the raid; The Golgoroth encounter (4th boss), The Daughters (5th boss) or by beating Oryx (Final Boss). There are also secret chests throughout the King’s Fall raid and if you have the weapon drop for you already, then there’s a chance it’ll drop from the secret chest too.

Succession (Sniper Rifle)

Succession is a legendary kinetic Sniper Rifle which is an Aggressive Frame Sniper, meaning high damage, high recoil. For PVE Fluted Barrel, Tactical Mag, Reconstruction, and Vorpal Weapon would be the best roll. For PVP Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Moving Target, and Snapshot Sights. To get this one you are going to need to run the Deep Stone Crypt raid, found on Europa. At the time of making the guide this means owning the Beyond Light DLC. Succession is a random drop from the second boss encounter.

Austringer (Hand Cannon)

If you are looking for a decent hand cannon for PVP then Austringer is a good bet especially given you can craft it. Eyasluna and Rose are decent alternatives, but personally I like Austringer, it’s a great feeling weapon. Austringer is Legendary Kinetic Hand Cannon with an Adaptive Frame meaning it’s a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy.

To get Austringer in Season of the Haunted you’ll want to open up Opulent Chests on the Derelict Leviathan. These Opulent Chests are located around the Leviathan, however, you can’t open them without an Opulent Key. You get Opulent Keys by opening loot chests on the Derelict Leviathan, and also you can get these at the end of the Nightmare Containment activity.

Once again it’s a craftable weapon, so make sure to get those red borders before Lightfall and before the Crown of Sorrow leaves the H.E.L.M.

Retrofit Escapade (Machine Gun)

Retrofit Escapade is a rapid-fire lightweight machine gun, which is fantastic for mowing down smaller enemies, but normally against bosses these types of weapons can struggle. Retrofit Escapade changes that with the inclusion of a particular perk called Target Lock, which has been making headlines this season, so I’d definitely recommend securing target lock on this weapon if you can. Combine Target Lock and Volatile Rounds, then you have a deadly combination. For PVE Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Feeding Frenzy and Target Lock. Target Lock – Damage increases the longer this weapon remains on a target.

To get Retrofit Escapade you have to take part in the seasonal activity called Heist Battlegrounds. When you complete the Heist Battlegrounds activity you can open up the chest at the end. The one on the right hand side will give you seasonal loot. You will need 500 Seraph Key Codes to open up this chest, and you can get this currency from activities including strikes, story missions, crucible and gambit. Given this is a seasonal weapon, you will need access to Season of the Seraph.

Tarnished Mettle (Scout Rifle)

Tarnished Mettle is a Legendary Energy Scout Rifle with a Lightweight Framemeaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. This comes with the Origin Trait Right Hook, where dealing melee damage gives the weapon increased target acquisition and range for a short period of time. Dealing melee damage again extends the effect. For PVE Smallbore, Tactical Mag, Demolitionist, Voltshot would be good. For PVP Smallbore, Accurized Rounds, Moving Target, Explosive Payload would be good.

To get this one you’ll have to own Season of Plunder and take part in seasonal activities like Ketchcrash and Expeditions. Tarnished Mettle is a potential reward for these activities. You can also focus Umbral Engrams at the H.E.L.M. via the Star Chart to get Tarnished Mettle, although you’ll need to upgrade the Star Chart first. This weapon is also craftable, but you’ll need to collect a number of red-bordered weapons first and level them up before it can be crafted. With seasonal weapons, you normally need 5, so I imagine it’s the same for these

Disparity (Pulse Rifle)

Disparity is a Legendary Kinetic Pulse Rifle with an Aggressive Burst meaning it’s a Hard-hitting four-burst fire. For PVE Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Outlaw, and Headstone. For PVP Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Moving Target, and Desperado.

To get Disparity you have to take part in the seasonal activity called Heist Battlegrounds. To get access to this you have to complete the introduction quest as part of Season of the Seraph.

Calus Mini Tool (Submachine Gun)

Calus Mini-Tool is a Legendary Energy Submachine Gun meaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this lightweight weapon equipped. Personally, this is a decent PVE Weapon, given it can roll with incandescent, making this perfect for Solar and Stasis builds. For PVE Arrowhead Brake, Tactical Mag, Threat Detector and Incandescent would be a decent roll.

To get Calus Mini-Tool you’ll want to open up Opulent Chests on the Derelict Leviathan. These Opulent Chests are located around the Leviathan, however, you can’t open them without an Opulent Key. You get Opulent Keys by opening loot chests on the Derelict Leviathan, and also you can get these at the end of the Nightmare Containment activity. This one is craftable also, meaning you’ll need to get 5 red bordered versions of the weapon, level them up to unlock the pattern. It’s well worth doing that before Lightfall, so I would check out the Nightmare Containment activity, plus the Crown of Sorrow in the HELM and get those red borders before Lightfall.
