How to get the Veles-X (Legendary Pulse Rifle) in Destiny 2
Veles-X is an excellent pulse rifle added to Destiny 2 in Season of the Seraph. This one is good in both PVP and PVE, plus comes with some unique perks, and when used with the right exotic armor, this one excels in damage numbers, making it one of the best legendary pulse rifles in the game right now. Today I am going to check out the weapon in a little more detail, check out the perk combinations, plus how to get Veles-X in Destiny 2.
Veles-X is the new ritual weapon available to get in Season of the Seraph. This has a fairly unique combination of perks, whcih includes the combination of Golden Tricorn and Repulsor Brace. This is going to excel in PVE content, especially if you can chain together kills and keep Golden Tricorn going.
How to get Veles-X
To get this one you’ll need to get to rank 16 on your seasonal vendor of choice, which includes Zavala for Vanguard Ops, Lord Shaxx for Crucible and Drifter for Gambit. You can find all these Vendors in the Tower, and each one has a reputation ranking system. Completing acitivies in their corresponding playlists will earn you XP and will allow you to level up and get hold of the Veles-X.
To get this done nice and quickly you want to keep an eye on the XP multiplier each week. Every week of the season we have XP boosts and that rotates between Vanguard Ops, Crucible and Gambit. For example, at the time of creating this guide we have double XP for Gambit. Another good way to get this done nice and quickly is to take advantage of streak bonuses. The longer you stay in a playlist, you’ll get streak bonuses, which are indicated when you load into the match. You can get up to 5 streak bonuses, which act as XP multipliers.
I got the Veles-X while I was also chasing Iron Banner weapons and armour, given I was spending so much time in the cruicble playlist, I worked my way to up rank 16 with Lord Shaxx very quickly. This wasn’t the most efficient way to do it, although it worked for me.
Probably the fastest way to get this done is waiting for a Vanguard Ops XP bonus week, and you can grind out Legend Nightfalls. These Nightfalls aren’t too difficult, and you can find a fireteam of Guardians fairly easily. Either contact some friends, clanmates or try using a LFG website like the Bungie app, find a fireteam of 3 and sit in the Vanguard Ops playlist completing Legend Nightfalls. You’ll get a good amount of XP for completing these activities, plus if you do it during a double XP week for Vanguard Ops you’ll get that too. Nightfalls are great because you’ll also get upgrade materials and exotic drops when completing Nightfalls. Plus you’ll earn Nightfall exclusive loot too.
The choice is there for you to play the playlist you enjoy the most. If you want to do it quickly then take advantage of the playlist XP bonuses.
Veles-X Ornaments
As well as the weapon, we have 3 ornaments to earn with the Veles-X. To be able to get these ornamnets you have to reset your rank on each vendor, then on the second reset per season, you’ll get the ornamnet. Sometimes this is required for a seasonal title, although I don’t think that is the case in Season of the Seraph. This reward is purely cosmetic, and allows you to show off your dedication to the playlist of your choice.
Veles-X perks
Veles-X is an agressive frame pulse rifle that deals void damage. It’s very strong in terms of range and stability compared to other aggressive pulse rifles in the same class, however, it’s not so great with handling and reload speed. It has access to four origin traits, but only one can be used at once.
- Hakke Breach Armaments – This weapon deals increased damage against vehicles, turrets, barricades, and Stasis crystals.
- Vanguard Vindication – Final blows with this weapon grant a small amount of health.
- One Quiet Moment – Grants increased reload speed when out of combat.
- Gun and Run – Rapidly defeating targets with this weapon grants bonus sprint speed. Guardians, powerful combatants, and high-value targets grant this bonus quicker.
As with all ritual weapons, Veles-X comes with a selection of perks, which you can mix and match and fit your playstyle.
- Chambered Compensator – Increases stability, Moderately controls recoil, Slightly decreases handling speed
- Flared Magwell – Slightly increases stability, Greatly increases reload speed
Trait 1
- Repulsor Brace – Defeating a Void-debuffed target grants an overshield.
- Tunnel Vision – Reloading after defeating a target greatly increases target acquisition and aim down sight speed for a short duration
Trait 2
- Golden Tricorn – Final blows with this weapon grant bonus damage. While this buff is active, grenade or melee kills of the same damage type greatly increase its damage and duration.
- Kill Clip – Reloading after a kill grants increased damage.
Veles-X is an Aggressive Frame Pulse Rifle that deals Void damage. It has excellent range and stability stats for its archetype, although it suffers from poor handling and reload speed. It also has access to four different Origin Traits: Hakke Breach Armaments, Vanguard Vindication, One Quiet Moment, and Gun and Run. As with all other weapons, only one Origin Trait may be active at any given moment.
For PVE Repulsor Brace and Golden Tricorn would be good. If you are a Hunter and have Gyrfaclon’s Hauberk then even better, this is going to be great for PVE builds, especially given we have unstoppable pulse rifle mods this season. Golden Tricorn gives you a 15% damage buff for a kill, then if you follow that up with an ability kill, then you have a 50% damage buff, which is one of the highest in the game. If you can get the right gameplay loop going them Veles-X is going to do some serious work in PVP this season.
For PVP Tunnel Vision and Kill Clip is the play. Tunnel vision gives you that quick time to aim down sights and you’ll get increases aim assist after a kill, then kill clip will help you out with a 25% damage buff, making this one much more effective in PVP overall. Veles-X is likely going to be a better weapon in 6v6, where we have more Guardians, compared to Trials wher we only have 3 given chaining together kills makes this weapon more powerful.
Let me know in the comments what you think of the Veles-X and let me know which game mode you are using it in and which combination of perks you are enjoy.
That’s it for this guide for how to get the Veles-X ritual Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2.
