How to get Revision Zero (Exotic Pulse Rifle) and The Hidden Shape Quest Guide in Destiny 2
Revision Zero is an Exotic Pulse Rifle added to Destiny 2 as part of Season of the Seraph. This is one of the most exciting Exotic Weapons to be added in a long time, given we can customise it to fit our play style. With the introduction of Revision Zero into the game, we also see the return of Exotic Missions into the game. Today I am going to check out Revision Zero, plus the catalysts and how to get the Exotic Pulse rifle in Destiny 2.
Before we get into it today let me know what you think of Revision Zero, and let me know which catalyst you are going to use, plus what did you think of the mission?
We first saw Revision Zero in the trailer for Season of the Seraph and it sparked a lot of excitement in the community. It looks like we have a couple of firing modes on the exotic, plus we’re going to get a number of catalysts for the weapon, which is a first, and this is going to allow us to customise Revision Zero. Therefore it’s highly likely you’ll want to get your hands on this exotic weapon ASAP.
How to get Revision Zero
The exotic mission was released today, 20th December 2022, and it’s called ‘The Hidden Shape’, which unlocks the pattern for the Exotic weapon. This is a seasonal Exotic weapon, meaning you will need to own Season of the Seraph to access the exotic mission, and the Revision Zero itself.
To get access to The Hidden Shape you’ll need to complete the week 3 story mission, and you start that by talking to Clovis Bray in the HELM. Once you have finished up that mission you’ll talk to Elsie at the Hollow Projector and she’ll give you the Exotic Quest, The Hidden Shape.
Step 1 – Complete Operation Seraph’s Shield Exotic Mission
Once you have access to The Hidden Shape Quest, you’ll be able to select this from the HELM screen, it’s over on the right-hand side. You can solo the exotic mission if you want to, and it’s relatively straightforward, but be aware there are some puzzle-like mechanics in there. Nothing too complicated, and if you have run the Deep Stone Crypt raid before some of these mechanics are going to be very familiar.
When you first boot up the mission you’ll have to make your way inside the complex, and you’ll be interacting with various Augments. The scanner augment allows you to hack terminals, and this is the one you’ll be introduced to first. You’ll want to kill the Fallen with the Scanner Augment and then find the terminals to hack, then you can proceed with the mission. Watch out for various hatches to go through in the mission, it won’t always be obvious which way to go, but look for hatches and you’ll find the terminals you need to hack. When you are done using the Augment, you have to interact with a bigger terminal to remove the augment, and this will unlock the way forward.
The first puzzle you come across is a selection of terminals, there are 4 terminals in total, and you want to interact with the third one from the left. If you interact with any of the others, you will die instantly. Once you have interacted with the correct terminal, jump down and make your way through the now-unlocked door.
Once you have done this make your way forward and you’ll find a microwave room, where if you step on the wrong panel on the floor, the defence mechanism will be triggered and you’ll be fried. There are 3 walls with 3 terminals on each wall, and you have to pick up the scanner augment to see your path on the floor, remember your path and then enter the room, making sure you don’t step on the wrong part of the floor, otherwise it’s instant death. Then you have to interact with the correct panels on each wall. On the wall to the right as you enter the room, interact with the terminal on the left. On the wall to the left when you enter the room, interact with the one on the right. Finally, on the back wall as you enter the room interact with the one on the right. Then you can make your way forward through the door without getting fried.
Next up we have to use the Operator Augment. This allows us to shoot various panels on the wall, and we have to find a number of panels to unlock the path forward. Once again, find the Fallen with the Operator Augment, kill them, pick up the augment and find the panels. These are all located on the walls, so keep you eyes open on the walls. Again, look for small gaps and shoot through them to find the panels. You have to acquire control room keys to get through security, so get the operator augment and find the panels and kill the enemies to get the keys.
The next part is very cool. You have a big fight with a combination of Fallen and Hive, and once you have defeated the enemies, you hand yourself in and you get transported to a Fallen Ketch. Your weapons are returned to you and you battle your way through the Ketch, until you are outside. Then you have to make your way forward, using the Operator Augment and shooting the panels to reveal platforms to help you make your way forward.
Once you are through that section you have to put both augments to work together. Here you have to use the operator augment to open the doors and then the Scanner Augment to hack the terminals. Repeat this process a few times to unlock the way forward in the mission.
We have one final augment to use, and this one is the suppressor augment. What we need to door here is kill the fallen to get the suppressor augment, and then stand under the Bray Tech orb and shoot the highlighted enemy. Once you’ve done this with each orb, a drone will appear and you have to destroy that with your weapons, that will break the shield of the enemy and you can finish it off. This is the central mechanic for the boss fight, which is up next.
Now it’s time for the final boss fight against Praksis. Similar to the last encounter we’re going to need to find the Fallen with the suppressor augment, kill them, grab the augment and then shoot at Praksis while under the orb. Repeat this 3 times with all the orbs to reveal 3 drones, one to the left, one to the right and one in the middle. Destroy them all to allow damage on the boss. Repeat this process a few damage phases and that should be it!
Step 2 – Visit the Exo Frame and investigate the encrypted message.
Next up, go back to the HELM and pick up a version of Revision Zero from Clovis Bray. You’ll then be directed to The Enclave on Mars to shape the weapon.
Depending on whether or not you have completed the weapon shaping quests before, you’ll either be able to skip straight to levelling up the weapon, or you may have to do a few steps to unlock weapon shaping. If you haven’t shaped a weapon before then you’ll need to complete the Arrival Mission on Savathun’s Throne World, complete the Relic Quest, complete Shaping Extraction and finally complete Shaping Resonant Alloys. I would imagine most of you have completed this already, but if you haven’t you may need to complete these steps.
Next you have to unlock the pattern, and you can do this simply by using Revision Zero. This is the fun part where you get to use the new Exotic, and it’s a load of fun. It’s a great Pulse Rifle that then turns into a sniper-like weapon with a 4-round precision burst fire when in the alternate firing mode. I up the weapon enough from one Lost Sector. Once you have done that, extract the pattern by interacting with the weapon.
Step 3 – Shape Revision Zero.
Next, make your way back to the Enclave on Mars and shape a new version of Revision Zero. For the time being the same perk options are going to be available, but you’ll want to use the weapon to unlock new perks, and you do this by levelling up the weapon.
Step 4 – Commune with the Relic Conduit.
Finally, chat with the Relic and you are done.
Congratulations, you now have your hands on the Revision Zero Exotic Pulse Rifle, so it’s time to take the weapon into your favourite game mode and check it out. Let’s have a look at the weapon in more detail
Revision Zero
The Exotic perk is called Hunter’s Trace.
Hunter’s Trace – This weapon fires special shield-piercing ammunition. Precision hits grant targeting data. [Alternate Weapon Action] to swap to the alternate scope, loading high-damage rounds based on the amount of targeting data. Strong against [Shield-Piercing] Barrier Champions.
The weapons also has two origin traits.
- Hakke Light Burst Fire: Fires a stable burst of four lightweight rounds.
- Hakke Heavy Burst Fire: Fires a less stable burst of two high-damage, high-range rounds.
We also have four catalysts
- Pressurized Refit: Improved stability and accuracy as the magazine gets lower.
- 4-Timer Refit: Rapidly landing precision hits will return two rounds to the magazine.
- Frenzy Refit: Each rapid kill with this weapon progressively increases reload speed for a short time.
- Outlaw Refit: Precision kills greatly decrease reload time.
Given the combination of catalysts, this is going to be very useful in all different game modes; PVE, PVP and also Gambit if that is your thing. Personally, I’m looking forward to that 4-timer Refit, where two rounds get returned to the magazine based on landing precision hits. Frenzy Refit also looks good, and I can just see the clips in PVP with this thing… it’s going to be an absolute beast. This also has another built in benefit of being good against Barrier Champions, which is always useful having exotic weapons taking on this capability
