How to prepare for Season 19 in Destiny 2

Season 19 is only a few days away now, so it’s time to start thinking about Season 19 and how to prepare. Today I am going to run through ten things you can do to prepare for season 19, so you can start off the season in the best possible way.

Before we get into it today, let me know what you are doing to prepare for season 19?

Season of Plunder ends of 6th December, and Bungie have been keeping their cards very close to their chests related to next season. We did get a cutscene this week, showing Osiris waking up, and informing the Vanguard of the Last City about Neptune and the secrets hidden there. That means we have less than a week to finish up everything we want to do for Season of Plunder, and today I am going to run through ten things you can do before the season ends.

Spend materials

Planetary materials are going away as of the start of season 19, meaning it’s best to get rid of them before the new season begins. Destination vendors like Devrim Kay and Failsafe are being converted into vendors similar to Fynch on Savathun’s Throne World.

Here are all the materials that are going away

Dusklight Shards
Microphasic Datalattice
Helium Filaments
Baryon Boughs
Spinmetal Leaves
Glacial Starwort

If you don’t get rid of them, they still will take up space in your inventory, so now is the best time to get rid of them as you’ll be able to trade them for weapons, or glimmer.

Tidy up your vault

If you are anything like me, your vault is probably a mess. Now is a good time to clear out your vault, get rid of any weapons you don’t need. I tend to keep high stat armour and exotic armour, plus one of every weapon. My vault is clogged up with Festival of the Lost weapons and also red border weapons too, so I’ll be going through those and deleting anything I don’t need.

If you have a lot of armor stored away in your vault, then D2ArmorPicker is a good website to create builds with.
If you have a lot of weapons, dismantle copies of weapons you don’tm need, check out the rolls and the stats and I’d recommend only keeping one, or if you haven’t used it since before Witch Queen.

Ideally you want to delete as much as possible, to make room for all the new loot that’s going to come with Season 19.

Get vendor rewards

At the start of season 19 vendor reputation will be reset, and any unclaimed rewards will go away. Therefore you want to claim any rewards from vendors. You may get some decent weapon drops, but more importantly, you can break down the loot into valuable materials like Legendary Shards and glimmer.

Get season pass rewards

By now you will have worked your way through the season pass. Before the season ends, check the season pass and make sure to claim any rewards on there you haven’t claimed yet. This can include armor, ornaments, exotic engrams and more. Once again, there may be some useful loot there, but if there isn’t, you can always dismantle them for materials.

Unlock subclass features (including stasis)

Season 19 is going to be the first season where we don’t get a new subclass rework for a while. Since Witch Queen we have got Void, Solar and Arc 3.0 subsclass reworks. Head on over to Ikora Rey and make sure you pick up all the fragments and grenades. They do tend to cost a fair amount of glimmer, but this is a good way to spend it.

Also, it’s a good time to finish up your stasis subclass unlocks. I am sure many of you already have Stasis unlocked, but going into this season I didn’t and I used my dowtime to unlock everything I hadn’t unlocked with Stasis before. Stasis is now my most used subclass, it’s loads of fun, and a little bit different when compared to the other light subclasses. If you haven’t got around to unlocking stasis, I definitely recommend it.

Get Deepsight weapons

Now is a great time to be farming for Deepsight weapons, and getting as many weapon patterns as possible. With the introduction of the crafting system in the Witch Queen, getting that god roll is a little easier with certain weapons. To do this you want to upgrade vendors at the H.E.L.M. to unlock the weekly weapon drops. Completing seasonal challenges are a good way to do this. If you want weapons from Season of the Haunted, Opulent chests on the Derelict Leviathan are best, and the current community event is good for Season of Plunder weapons.

Farm bounties

If you want to go that extra mile then farming bounties and storing them for next season can be a good way to prepare. If you store up a bunch of bounties and open them on the first day of the new season, making sure you have the XP boost on your ghost shell, plus open them as part of a fireteam, you’ll get extra XP, and start making your way through next season’s season pass nice and quickly. Personally, I don’t tend to store bounties, but the option is there is you want to do it.

Get Exotics

Season 19 is launching with some balance changes coming to Exotics, so now is a great time to complete your exotic’s collection. Check out the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower for past Exotics. You’ll also be able to claim a bunch of exotics from your season pass. Legend and Master Lost Sectors are good for farming newer Exotic armour pieces, if you can complete those activities solo.

In Season of Plunder we were intropduced to Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk (Exotic Hunter Chest), Point-Contact Cannon Brace (Exotic Titan Arms), Fallen Sunstar (Exotic Warlock Helmet), Delicate Tomb (Exotic Fusion Rifle) and Quicksilver Storm (Exotic Auto Rifle). Fallen Sunstar and Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk for the Warlock and Hunter’s are fantastic exotics.

It’s also worth checking your exotic quests in your quest log to see what open Exotic missions you have. This may include legacy missions and open catalysts. Given we have a few days left, put that time to some good use and finish up your exotic’s collection.

Community event

There’s a community event going on at the moment, which is why there is a chest in the middle of the Tower when you land at the courtyard. While we completed the community goals, there’s still a chance to get some great loot from your personal donations of Captain’s Coins. A fast way to farm Captain’s coins is through Lost Sectors, although Captain’s Coins will be dropping from all playlist activities. You can exchange your Captain’s Coins for gift boxes, master work materials and cosmetics, including a very nice exotic ghost shell.

Finish up the Scallywag Title

Season of Plunder’s Scallywag title was a massive grind, until Bungie nerfed the requirements and made it easier to work through. That made the title much more obtainable for many, including reducing the ruffian kills from 50 down to 10. There’s an extra incentive to complete the title within the season too, as you can purchase a real-life seal pin from the Bungie store. I started collecting these IRL items, and they make for great collectibles. Plus you’ll get to wear the title of Scallywag for the remainder of the Witch Queen expansion.

Let me know in the comments what you are doing to prepare for Season 19 and let me know if I have forgotten anything important.

That’s it for this guide for how to prepare for Season 19 in Destiny 2.
