Hunter Solar 3.0 Build with Assassin’s Cowl in Destiny 2

Assassin’s Cowl is one of the best Hunter Exotics and today I am going to show you how to build an effective endgame Solar 3.0 build that’s going to have you punching your way to easy loot. I’ll show you the Solar 3.0 setup, the weapons, mods and armor, so you can scroch, ignite and burn all enemies that get in your way.

Without further delay, let’s check out the build.

Solar 3.0 setup

Super: Blade Barrage
Class ability: Gambler’s Dodge
Melee: Knife Trick
Grenade: Fusion

Knock ‘Em Down – Your Solar Supers are enhanced. Golden Gun – Deadshot has increased duration, Golden Gun – Marksman has increased damage resistance and duration, and Blade Barrage launches more projectiles. While radiant, final blows with your equipped Throwing Knife fully refund your melee energy.

On Your Mark – Precision final blows grant you and nearby allies increased weapon handling and reload speed for a short duration. Stacks 3 times. Activating your class ability immediately grants maximum stacks of On Your Mark.

  • Ember of Torches – Powered melee attacks against combatants make you and nearby allies radiant.
  • Ember of Singeing – Your class ability recharges faster when you scorch targets.
  • Ember of Empyrean – Solar weapon or ability final blows extend the duration of restoration and radiant effects applied to you.

Exotic Armor – Assasin’s Cowl

Assassin’s Cowl is an Exotic Hunter Helmet with the perk Vanishing Execution.

Vanishing Execution – Powered melee final blows grant invisibility and restore a portion of health and shields. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the duration of the invisibility and the amount of health and shields restored.

Kinetic – Arbalest

Arbalest is an Exotic Kinetic Linear Fusion Rifle. Let’s check out the perks on the weapon.

  • Compounding Force – Fires slugs that cause massive damage to elemental shields of enemy combatants.
  • Disruption Break – Breaking an enemy’s shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.

You can get this from Xur or Exotic engrams. This one is great for dealing with Anti Barrier Champions too.

Energy – BXR Battler

The BXR-55 Battler is a Legendary Energy Pulse Rifle dealing Solar damage and it comes with a custom frame called the Legacy PR-55 Frame. This means it’s a customized frame with dramatically increased accuracy, stability, and targeting while hip firing.

For PVE Corkscrew Rifling, Accuried Rounds, Outlaw, and Kill Clip would be a decent roll. Outlaw is where precision kills decrease reload time, and finally Kill Clip means reloading after a kill increases the damage output. If you have a roll with Incandescent, that’s great too.

You can get this one from Dares of Eternity.

Power – Fixed Odds

Fixed Odds is a Legendary Power Machine Gun with a High-Impact Frame meaning it’s slow-firing and high-damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary and aiming down sights. Given this one is a high-impact frame, that means it’s going to fire slower, but the weapon is going to deal more damage.

For PVE Field Prep and Incandescent would be a decent roll.

  • Field Prep – Increased ammo reserves. Faster reload, stow, and be ready when you’re crouching.
  • Incandescent – Defeating a target spreads scorch to those nearby. More powerful combatants and opposing Guardians cause scorch in a larger radius.

  • Melee Wellmaker – Powered melee combatant final blows spawn elemental wells matching your subclass energy type
  • Bountiful Wells – Elemental well mods that cause you to spawn elemental wells can now stack, spawning additional wells for each additional copy of the mod you have equipped.
  • Font of Might – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you a temporary bonus to weapon damage of the same element type.
  • Anti-Barrier Auto Rifle
  • Overload Machine Guns
  • Resilience Mods – try and get to 100 for 40% damage resistance

This build is all about charged melees, igniting enemies, going invisible after melee kills, plus you can trigger healing and you have a killer super. It’s a great all-round build that will easily take you through endgame PVE content.

Gunslingers had a great buff when it came to melee abilities, meaning it pairs perfectly well with Assassin’s Cowl. Knock Em Down and Ember of Torches is going to help you get near infinite melee charges, plus you’ll get a decent damage buff too. This fragment pairing is going to allow Hunters to throw a lot of knives, plus you’ll be generating loads of elemental wells to help boost damage.

The build is focused around the very powerful Assassin’s Cowl. This not only allows you to go invisible, but you get a decent amount of health back after a kill too, meaning you can get out of a tight spot easily. Combine your attacks with finishers and you’ll get longer invisibility, so if you get in trouble, then you’ll be able to escape with ease, recalibrate and then get back on the attack quickly.

Knife Trick is good because you can take down smaller enemies very quickly, plus use this to apply scorch stacks on larger enemies. Apply enough scorch stacks and they will ignite, meaning you’ll cause them to explode. Our super is going to come in handy too, given we can soften them up with melee, grenades and weapons, then finish them off with our super.

Knock Em Down is going to give us back our melee quickly and easily. Ember of Singeing allows us to get more dodges, and Ember of Empyrean allows us to use Radiant and Restoration (if you are using healing grenades). Given we’re going to be running around and punching everything, then this build is supported through Melee Wellmaker. This allows us to generate Solar Elemental Wells with ease, and using Bountiful Wells means we can spawn multiple at the same time. Picking these up gives us font of might, meaning a 20% increase to damage output.

For the weapons I am using a combination which means you will be able to take on all endgame content with ease. Arbalest is going to take out barrier champions, then the energy and power weapon slots are reserved for champion killing weapons. I am using the BXR Battler, a solar pulse rifle, which will allow me to take out Unstoppable Champions. Then in the power slot I am using Fixed Odds, a Solar machine gun, this is going to take care of Overload Champions. With these three weapons you’ll be able to take on any champion. However, feel free to mix and match solar weapons in the energy and power slots to match the champions, as it all depends on the mods. Also, if your not playing endgame PVE then choose any weapon you like to play with.

Let me know in the comments what you think of the build, and let me know if you have any improvements.
