Hunter Stasis PVE build with Mask of Bakris in Destiny 2

Mask of Bakris is a great exotic helmet for Hunters, and enhances any stasis build. Today I’m going to check out a grenade focused build supported by Mask of Bakris, that will have you freezing, slowing and shattering enemies, throwing near infinite grenades and sneaking around the battlefield whilst invisible. I’ll run through the stasis setup, plus the weapons and mods, so you can freeze everything that gets in your way.

Without firther delay, let’s check out the build.

Stasis Setup

Super: Silence and Squall
Class Ability: Gambler’s Dodge
Melee: Withering Blade
Grenade: Duskfield grenade

Aspects

Touch of Winter – Your Glacier, Duskfield, and Coldsnap grenades have enhanced functionality. Duskfield Grenade: Increases slow-field size and creates a small Stasis crystal on impact.

Grim Harvest – Defeating slowed or frozen combatants creates Stasis shards. These shards grant melee energy when picked up by you or your allies.

Fragments

Whisper of Chains – While you are near frozen targets or a friendly Stasis crystal, you take reduced damage from targets.

Whisper of Shards – Shattering a Stasis crystal temporarily boosts your grenade recharge rate. Shattering additional Stasis crystals increases the duration of this benefit.

Whisper of Refraction – Defeating slowed or frozen targets grants you class ability energy.

Exotic Armor – Mask of Bakris

Mask of Bakris is an Exotic Hunter Helmet with the perk Light Shift.

Light Shift – Replaces your Stasis subclass dodge ability with a longer range, faster moving shift that partially cloaks you during use. After shifting, your Arc weapons deal increased damage to combatants for a short time, and you deal increased damage to all slowed or frozen combatants.

You can get this from Lost Sectors when completing on legend or master solo, when the exotic helmet is the reward.

Weapons

Kinetic – Rat King

Rat King is an exotic kinetic sidearm, comes with some excellent perks.

  • Rat Pack – This fully automatic weapon becomes stronger when nearby allies also have it equipped. Stacks up to 6 times.
  • Vermin – Reloading immediately after a kill grants a brief period of invisibility.

You can get this from the Monument to Lost Light Kiosk in the Tower.

Energy – Tarnished Mettle

Tarnished Mettle is a Legendary Energy Scout Rifle with Lightweight Frame meaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. This comes with the Origin Trait Right Hook, where dealing melee damage gives the weapon increased target acquisition and range for a short period of time. Dealing with melee damage again extends the effect.

Power – Chain of Command

This is a useful machine gun that comes with a selection of perks. We have Adrenaline Junkie, Demolitionist, Osmosis and Adaptive Munitions. I’m going for Adrenaline Junkie and Demolitionist, given the grenade focus of the build. Demolitionist in particular is good because kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. This is a stasis weapon, which why it works well with the build, and you can get it from the Monument to Lost Lights.

Mods

  • Elemental Charge – Become Charged with Light by picking up an elemental well. If the elemental well’s element type matches your subclass element, you gain 2 stacks of Charged with Light.
  • Firepower (x3) – While Charged with Light, regain a portion of your grenade energy when you use your grenade, consuming one stack of Charged with Light.
  • Elemental Shards – Stasis shards count as Stasis elemental wells for you.
  • Antibarrier Scout – Strong against Barrier Champions
  • Overload Machine Guns – Strong against Overload Champions
  • Resilience mods (100) – 40% damage reduction

Gameplay

This build is all about taking advantage of the Stasis capabilities of the Hunter. Mask of Bakris grants 10% increased damage to Slowed/Frozen targets, as well as granting 10% increased damage to Arc Weapons. I’m also taking advantage of enhanced duskfield grenades with this build, plus going invis through Mask of Bakris and Rat King.

First of all, the grenades. This is all about Duskfield grenades and Touch of Winter enhances them through an increased slow-field and creates a small stasis crystal on impact. I’m using Grim Harvest here to slow and freeze enemies, which is going to create Stasis Shards, then through Elemental Shards Mod they count as Elemental Wells. Picking up Elemental Wells through Elemental Charge gives us two stacks of Charged with Light, then Firepower mods are going to refund grenade energy when you use your grenade, meaning more grenades, more of the time. This combination was recommended by Andrew Miller in the comments on a previous Hunter Stasis build, so shout out to Andrew and his build tips.

Next I’m taking advantage of going invisible. This is happening through Mask of Bakris and Light Shift. Our dodge is turned into a shift, and you are partially cloaked. This is good but the main invis comes from Rat King, which is my current favourite weapon to use with a Hunter. Vermin allows a short period of invis when reloading after a kill with Rat King, and this is going to help you get out of a tight spot.

Regarding the weapoins I’m using Tarnished Mettle, given it’s an arc weapon and Mask of Bakris gives us a 10% boost to arc weapons damage after shifting. Chain of Command is great because it has demolitionist and adrenaline junkie, a very decent combo, again boosting our grenade recharge rate. These weapons are tailored for champions, here I’m using Anti Barrier Scout and Overload Machine Gun. Feel free to swap in and out weapons you like. I would try and pair up at least one stasis weapon with an arc weapon, what they are depends on the champion mods and the season you watch this guide. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments.

Finally, we’re using all the benefits of stasis here includin Whisper of Chains, while you are near frozen targets or a friendly Stasis crystal, you take reduced damage from targets. This is going to help us in endgame PVE modes like nightfalls, raids, dungeons and legend/master lost sectors. Whisper of Shards works well with Duskfield grenades, given the crystal in the middle. Shattering a Stasis crystal temporarily boosts your grenade recharge rate. Together with Firepower this means fast grenade recharging. Finally, Whisper of Refraction, defeating slowed or frozen targets grants you class ability energy. Given we’re going to be slowing and freezing enemies with grenades, our stasis weapons and abilities, this is going to allow us to use our class abilities more.

Let me know what you think of the build in the comments and let me know if you have any improvements.
