Unlimited Explosions with a Dawn Chorus Warlock Solar 3.0 Build in Destiny 2

Ever wanted to make your enemies explode just by looking at them? If you are a Warlock main and you are into making things ignite, scorch and explode then this is a great build which allows you to burn through enemies in no time at all. Today I am going to run through a Dawn Chorus Solar 3.0 build, I’ll have a look at aspects, fragments, weapons, exotic armour and mods.

This build is all about making things explode by adding scorch and ignite effects to enemies. Scorch and Ignite are two new keywords related to solar 3.0, which essential mean damage over time, building up to Solar explosions.

Scorch is a damage-over-time debuff which you can apply to enemies with Solar abilities (grenades, melee, super and some weapons and perks). Enemies can be scorched by solar damage, then it stacks, and enemies take damage over time. Ignite or Ignition is where enemies tally up enough stacks of scorch to trigger a large explosion. This is great for massive ad clearing. We can use a combination of aspects and fragments in our solar 3.0 builds to maximise the effectiveness of our scorch and ignite, for example, Ember of Eruption, your Solar ignitions have increased area of effect or Ember of Blistering, defeating targets with Solar ignitions grants grenade energy.

In short, we want to apply as much scorch as possible to ignite and explode as many enemies as possible.

Let’s have a look at the build in some more detail.

Solar 3.0 setup

  • Super – Dawnblade
  • Grenade – Fusion Grenade
  • Class ability – Healing Rift
  • Melee – Incinerator Snap

Aspects

Touch of Flame – Your Healing, Solar, Firebolt, and Fusion Grenades have enhanced functionality. Healing Grenade has improved cure and restoration, Solar Grenade increases linger duration and fires blobs of lava, Firebolt Grenade increases target search radius and count, and Fusion Grenade explodes twice.

Heat Rises – You can fire weapons, melee, and throw grenades while gliding. Consumes grenade. Final blows while airborne increase the duration of Heat Rises and grant melee energy.

Fragments

  • Ember of Char – Your Solar ignitions spread scorch to affected targets.
  • Ember of Ashes – You apply more scorch stacks to targets.
  • Ember of Eruption – Your Solar ignitions have increased the area of effect.
  • Ember of Blistering – Defeating targets with Solar ignitions grants grenade energy.

Touch of Flame is allowing our fusion grenade to explode twice. The main thing we’re using here are our fragments, for example, ignitions spread scorch, so our explosions are going to scorch nearby targets through Ember of Char. Ashes allow us to apply more scorch to targets. Eruption increases the area of effect from our ignitions or solar explosions, and then Blistering grants us grande energy through our ignitions. Therefore, we’re maximising our scorch and ignitions from the area of effect and spread.

Exotic Armour

Dawn Chorus is an exotic Warlock Helmet.

Rites of Ember – Your Daybreak projectiles cause targets to scorch on contact. Your scorch effects deal more damage, and you gain a small amount of melee energy each time your scorch effects damage a target.

Our exotic armour allows us to deal more damage with our scorch stacks, plus we’re getting more melee back when dealing scorch damage, which allows us to scorch more through clicking our fingers with Incinerator Snap.

Weapons

Kinetic – Reckless Endangerment

Reckless Endangerment is a Legendary Kinetic Shotgun with a Lightweight Frame meaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped.

Energy – Skyburner’s Oath

This is an exotic energy Scout Rifle

Slug Rifle – This weapon lobs explosive slugs. When you’re aiming down sights, the slugs travel fast and straight. When you’re firing from the hip, the explosion is larger and applies Scorch to the target.

For the Empire – This weapon is Full Auto, does extra damage to Cabal, and penetrates Phalanx shields.

This one has seen a rework and has been retrofitted for Solar 3.0. This helps us spread more scorch, which is going to lead to explosions.

Power – Ascendancy

Ascendancy is a Legendary Power Rocket Launcher is a Precision Frame meaning this weapon fires a small auto-tracking missile. Missiles lock onto targets when aimed. Chain Reaction means Solar Explosions.

Slug Rifle is the key one, especially when firing from the hip. That’s going to help us spread scorch even more, helping us build up to more ignitions and explosions. Talking of explosions, I am using Ascendancy, which is going to cause major explosions with the rockets and chain reaction. Hezen Vengence with Chain Reaction would also be good.

Mods

I’m using some basic Elemental Well mods

  • Elemental Ordnance (2) – Defeating a combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type.
  • Bountiful Wells – Elemental Well mods that cause you to spawn elemental wells can now stack, spawning additional wells for each additional copy of the mod you have equipped.
  • Explosive Wellmaker – Rapidly defeating combatants with explosive damage spawns a Solar elemental well.
  • Font of Might – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants a temporary bonus to weapon damage of that same elemental type.

We’re creating elemental wells through our grenade kills and explosions. Bountiful Wells is going to give us more elemental wells for each instance of elemental ordnance we have, so every time we get a grande kill we’re getting two wells. Then we’re using Font of Might to boost our weapon damage, given we’re picking up Solar elemental wells.

Then you can enhance the build through these artefact mods

  • Solar Fulmination – Your ignitions do increase damage in an increased radius.
  • Rays of Precision – While radiant, Solar precision final blows cause combatants to ignite.

Let me know what you think of the build in the comments, and let me know if you have any improvements.
