Season of the Risen

Iron Banner Guide in Destiny 2 Season of the Risen Plus ‘What We Survive’ Quest and Iron Banner God Roll Weapons

Iron Banner is back on Tuesday 15th March 2022 for its first instalment in Season of the Risen. That means Lord Saladin will visit the Tower, and he’s got two new weapons with him, including a new 180 hand cannon called Frontier’s Cry and a new Vortex Frame Void Sword, that looks like a Light Saber, called Razor’s Edge. Today I am going to run through the Iron Banner quest in Season of the Risen called “What We Survive”, how to complete all the steps and what loot to expect along the way, plus what other loot we have available this season.

Lord Saladin is returning tomorrow, and this is the final Iron Banner in the format we’ve been used to for some time. Next season the game mode is getting a much needed revamp, particularly with the loot and how we can access rewards. We don’t know the full extent of the revamps at the moment, but Bungie will be back later in the season with all the details. Hopefully, it’s going to be much more in line with Saint-14 and Trials of Osiris, compared to what we have now. Before we get too deep into the video, I’d love to hear your thoughts on what you want to see from Iron Banner next season in the comments.

But that is next season, today we’re here to talk about Season of the Risen. First I’m going to run through the Lord Saladin questline, then I’ll get stuck into the god roll loot, plus a little PSA about weapons that have left, and also armour perks to look out for.

Before you get stuck into Iron Banner, here are some quick tips and reminders:

  • Remember it’s a power enabled activity, so the higher power, the easier it’s going to be. So equip your stronggest gear before going in.
  • Don’t forget to pick up the bounties from Lord Saladin, as they help you level up nice and quickly, with each of them being a Pinnacle drop source. Lord Salasin can be found in the Tower, above Banshee-44, standing in front of his flaming symbol, you can’t miss him.
  • To jump into Iron Banner itself, you’ll be able to select the game mode from the crucible menu, and you can access that through the director.
  • There are two nodes; Iron Banner and Iron Banner Freelance. If you play solo, check out freelance, if you have a team, try regular Iron Banner.

Weapons PSA

Just a quick reminder a few weapons left last season, so they are not going to be available this season. They are Multimach CCX, Timeworn Spire, Guiding Sight, Steady Hand.

Iron Banner God Roll Weapons in Season of the Risen

Let’s check out some of the best weapons in the loot pool this season.

Peacebond

Peacebond is a Legendary Kinetic Sidearm with an Adaptive Frame meaning it has a well-rounded grip, is reliable, fires a 3-round burst. This is one of the better Sidearms in the game, plus it’s a stasis Legendary weapon, so good for Stasis builds if that’s your thing.

For PVE Rangefinder and Headstone would be a decent roll. Rangefinder gives you more range and Headstone is a new stasis perk that says precision final blows spawn a stasis crystal at the victim’s location.

For PVP Tunnel Vision and Snapshot, Sights would be a good roll. Tunnel Vision increases target acquisition and aims down sight speed after defeating a target. Snapshot Sights provide a faster time to aim down sights.

Forge’s Pledge

Forge’s Pledge is a legendary energy pulse rifle with an adaptive frame, meaning it has a well-rounded grip, it’s reliable and sturdy.

For PVE Heating Up and Rampage would be a decent roll, where Heating Up gives more accuracy and stability which improves vertical recoil. Rampage stacks damage up to 3 times.

For PVP Zen Moment and Snapshot Sights would be a good roll. Zen Moment increases stability when you deal damage and Snapshot Sights get the weapon in your hand nice and fast.

Riiswalker

Riiswalker is a Legendary Kinetic Shotgun with a Lightweight Frame meaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. This is one of the best shotguns in the game for PVP right now.

For PVP Quickdraw and Iron Reach would be good. Iron Reach is one of the Iron Banner exclusive perks, which massively improves the range at the cost of stability. So if you happen to have Iron reach, plus a stability masterwork then that would be very good.

For PVE Surplus and Vorpal Weapon would be good. Slideways and Swashbuckler would also be a decent roll for PVE. Swashbuckler is always good for PVE focused builds.

To get this one you can get it either from a random drop from Iron Banner at the end of matches or when you rank up or hand in Iron Banner Tokens to Lord Saladin.

Archon’s Thunder

Archon’s Thunder Legendary Power Machine Gun with a High-Impact Frame meaning the weapon is slow-firing and has high damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary and aiming down sights. Looking at the stats we have Impact 70, Range 68, Stability 25, Handling 40, Reload Speed 40, Rounds Per Minute 360, and Magazine 44.

For PVE Rangefinder and Rampage would be a good roll. Mulligan and Thresh would also be a good roll for PvE. For PVP Quickdraw and Snapshot Sights would be good, or there is Killing Wind and Iron Grip.

To get this one you can get it either from a random drop from Iron Banner at the end of matches or when you rank up or hand in Iron Banner Tokens to Lord Saladin.

Frontier’s Cry (Hand Cannon)

Frontier’s Cry is a new Legendary Energy Hand Cannon with a precision frame, meaning the recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. This weapon fires quickly with high accuracy.

For PVE Rapid Hit and Kill Clip would be good. Rapid hit is where rapid precision hits temporarily increase stability and reload speed, then Kill Clip increases damage wehn reloading after a kill.

For PVP Steady Hands and Iron Reach would be good. Steady Hands is a new perk this season, this is where kills provide improved handling for all weapons for a short duration. Then Iron Reach massively improves weapon range at the cost of stability.

You can get this one from the Iron Banner Quest in Season of the Risen.

Razor’s Edge (Sword)

Razor’s Edge is a Legendary Power Sword that deals void damage. It’s a vortex frame sword, where you can launch a heavy spin attack and heavy attacks are stronger with full energy. Similar to Falling Guillotine, plus it looks like a Light Saber.

For PVE Relentless Strikes and Chain Reaction would be a good roll. Relentless Strikes mean landing three light attacks grant sword ammo, then you have Chain Reaction where final blows create elemental damage explosions, and given this is a void weapon, this could be very potent this season.

For PVP Duelist’s Trance and Assassin’s Blade is the play. Duelist’s Trance is where sword final blows grant increased charge rate, efficiency and defence until the weapon is stowed and Assassin’s Blade is where sword kills boosts movement and damage.

You can get this one from the Iron Banner Quest in Season of the Risen.

Iron Banner Armour and perks

The Iron Forerunner set is going to be available for us this season. Plus Bungie has added a perk called Iron Lord’s Pride. Wearing a piece of this armour grants a small chance of an Enhancement Prism dropping at the end of an Iron Banner match. Iron Banner is now potentially a good source for Prisms and ranks up materials.

Let me know in the comments what weapons you are chasing this Iron Banner.
