How to get Ascendant Alloy in Destiny 2

Weapon Crafting has arrived in Destiny 2 and you’re going to need a bunch of materials to craft your perfect weapon. One of these materials is Ascendant Alloy, and it’s pretty rare and only available from a few vendors and select activities post-campaign. Today I’m going to run through how to get Ascendant Alloy, so you have plenty of materials and you are ready to craft your god roll weapons.

Why do you need Ascendant Alloy?

Ascendant Alloy is needed to craft Exotic Weapons, for example, Osteo Striga, or more commonly used for Enhanced Traits during Weapon Crafting in Destiny 2 Witch Queen.

Enhanced Traits allow you to modify your weapons and make them even more powerful than before. It will take some leveling up on your weapons to unlock these Enhanced Traits, and as well as leveling up the weapons you are going to need this rare currency called Ascendant Alloy. This is required to either unlock or swap an Enhanced Traits on a weapon during the Shaping or Reshaping process.

Ascendant Alloy is likely to become the most sought-after resource in the game, so it’s worth knowing where and when you can get them, and save up as much as you can.

How to get Ascendant Alloy

There are a few places you can get Ascendant Alloy in the game. First of all, you can acquire it from vendors in the Tower. You can buy one Ascendant Alloy from Master Rahool, however, it’s going to cost you 400 legendary shards for a single one, which is very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend buying unless you have tons of legendary shards.

You can also get some from Banshee-44 in the Tower as part of his rank-up rewards, and you’ll get an Ascendant Alloy at Rank 16. This is going to take a little time to grind to get high up with Banshee-44’s ranks, and you can do this by dismantling weapons and doing gunsmith bounties.

There are a couple of activities in the game which reward Ascendant Alloy. First, you have the Weekly Story Mission, then you have the Master version of Wellspring. Both of these activities can be found on the Throne World.

Before you can access these activities you have to rank up Fynch, the vendor on the Throne World. Fynch can be found at Quagmire. At rank 13 you will open up the Weekly Campaign Mission, then at rank 18, you’ll unlock the Master version of Wellspring. Beware though, Master Mode for Wellspring is a 1580 recommended power level, so there’s plenty of work to get to that level, although you could most likely go in under-leveled to get the materials.

You can farm Ascendant Alloy by running these activities. Both the Weekly Campaign Mission and Master Wellspring offer the chance of Ascendant Alloy dropping at the end of the activity, and you can run these activities over and over again to build up a nice stockpile of Ascendant Alloy.
