How to get a mount in Lost Ark (Tower Where Light Lingers quest guide)
Lost Ark mounts give you an easy and faster way of traveling around the map, which is a good thing because Arkesia is huge. There are plenty of mounts to get in Lost Ark and today I am going to walk through how to get your first mount, so you can start getting across that map nice and quickly.
Mounts are going to be very important in your adventures throughout Arkesia given there’s a whole load of land to get across. Running is fine, but it’s going to make it much quicker to get across the land with a mount. You may be the type of player who wants to take things easy, travel on foot, and explore every nook and cranny. Or you might want to get across the lands and through the story and get to the endgame as quickly as possible if that’s you… then a mount is going to help out.
Mounts are animals or beasts that you can find to help speed up your traversal in Lost Ark. Traditionally, this is a horse, but there are some other weird and wonderful mounts in the game including dinosaurs and hoverboards. Mounts don’t only get you across the map faster, they also have abilities of their own that can help you out in quests, dungeons plus you can use them for different in-game activities.
There are a lot of mounts in the game, and much like weapons and armour there are rarities associated with mounts. The rarer the mount, often they come with unique abilities and traits, and no doubt in the future we’ll be able to get mounts associated with particular in-game events.
How to get a mount
One of the good things about Lost Ark is your first mount is given to you pretty early on in the game. Just after you finish the prologue you’ll get to Prideholme, the big first town where there’s a whole bunch of vendors and NPCs to meet. Here you’ll be presented with a quest called Tower Where Light Lingers and this is the key to getting your first mount.
Finish up this simple quest and speak to Brother Alfael, then you will be presented with three mounts.
- Loghill Black Horse
- Yudia White Horse
- Dyorika Brown Horse
Pick the one that is right for you and your mount will be put into your inventory. Then you have to select it and right-click to activate your mount or put it in your list of active mounts. Later on, when you get more mounts you can switch between them, but for now, this is your mount.
Once you have activated your mount, you can then assign your mount to a keypress. You can do this by dragging your mount down to your keys at the bottom of the screen. Now, every time you press that key, your mount will appear. Press it again, and it’ll go away.
How to get other mounts
There are lots of mounts available in Lost Ark and your free first mount is only really the start. There are a couple of ways to get extra mounts including
- Shop
- In-game Events
- Side quests
If you have the cash and you don’t mind spending real money on the game then you can go into the shop and check out the section dedicated to mounts. There are a few in there to choose from, and most likely one of the ways Lost Ark makes a ton of money by providing cool mounts. Personally, I haven’t bought a mount yet, although never say never.
The way I got my second mount was through an in-game event of sorts. Given the popularity of Lost Ark, Smilegate and Amazon Game Studios are giving away a free gift to all players, and that included a new mount. This was a nice upgrade from my fairly bland horse, now I have an armored horse, which looks much more like the business in the game.
You can also complete side quests to get other mounts. I will be back later on with other guides to demonstrate how you can do that and which mounts to target, but as I say they range from regular horses to raptors and even futuristic hover-boards.
