How to get the Wastelander M5 (Legendary Shotgun) plus God Roll Guide in Destiny 2

Wastelander M5 is a new shotgun added to Destiny 2 as part of Bungie’s 30th anniversary. This is a callback to Marathon 2, one of Bungie’s earlier games. Today I am going to look at Wastelander M5, the stats, perks, and god roll guide for PVE and PVP plus how to get the shotgun in Destiny 2.

Wastelander M5 is a Legendary Kinetic Shotgun with a Lightweight Frame meaning it has superb handling. Move faster with this weapon equipped. Looking at the stats we have Impact 65, Range 50, Stability 46, Handling 69, Reload Speed 63, Rounds Per Minute 80, and Magazine 6.

Given the Wastelander M5 is a lightweight frame, this means you’ll be able to run faster with the weapon equipped. This is going to be great in the crucible, and it’s going to be able to compete with the likes of Riiswalker. As with the other weapons from Dares of Eternity, Wastelander M5 is a reference to an old Bungie game, and this one is WSTE M5 shotgun from Marathon 2. In that game players could Dual Wield Shotguns, although unfortunately, we can’t yet do that in Destiny 2… maybe one day. There is however a finisher called All Four Barrells, where you CAN dual wield, which is very cool.

Wastelander M5 God Roll Guide

For PVE Rifled Barrel, Assault Mag, Perpetual Motion and Trench Barrel would be a decent roll. Rifled Barrel Increases range and greatly decreases handling speed. Assault Mag greatly increases stability also the rate of fire. Perpetual Motion is a new perk, where the weapon gains bonus handling, stability and reload speed while the wielder is in motion. Trench Barrel is the classic perk, made famous by the Ikelos Shotgun, after a successful melee hit the weapon gains increased damage, handling, and reload speed for a short duration – or until three shots are fired.

For PVP Full Choke, Accurized Rounds, Slideshot and Opening Shot would be good. Full Choke tightens the shotgun barrel and reduces the pellet spread. Accurized Rounds increase range. Slideshot partially reloads the weapon’s magazine and boosts range and stability. Finally, Opening Shot improves the accuracy and range of the opening shot of the attack.

How to get the Wastelander M5

To get this one you can get it as a random reward from Dares of Eternity, the 6 person activity that came with the Bungie 30th Anniversary. You can either get this to drop from the activity itself, or you can get keys to drop from the end of the activity, which you then open chests at Xur’s Treasure Hoard in Eternity.

Short History of the WSTE-M5 Shotgun

Able to be dual-wielded and very powerful at close range, the WSTE-M5 Combat Shotgun fires two shotgun shells at a time and reloads them by using ring-like trigger guards to spin the guns. The shotgun is one of only two weapons not available in the original Marathon, making its first appearance in Marathon 2. The other is the KKV-7 10mm SMG Flechette in Marathon Infinity. The WSTE-M5 Combat Shotgun can be used to trigger switches and destroy circuit panels.

The shotgun was originally scheduled to make its appearance in Bungie’s Marathon 20/10 Scenario Pack but made its way into Marathon 2 when that product was canceled.

Its playstyle would eventually inspire the creation of the Brute Mauler in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST (although it is more true to its original playstyle in the former).

The design of the shotgun and its reloading animation seems to imply that it is both a lever-action and a break-action weapon.
