How to get Arbalest (Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle) in Destiny 2

Arbalest is a decent Exotic Linear Fusion Rifle, that is about to get a whole lot better after December 7th’s Sandbox Update coming in a few days with Bungie’s 30th Anniversary. This is a shield-busting beast of a linear fusion rifle, plus the only Linear Fusion Rifle in the Kinetic Slot. Today I’m going to take a closer look at Arbalest, look at the perks and stats, plus how to get the weapon these days, and look at the buffs we have coming to make this thing a must have weapon in Destiny 2.

First, let’s have a look at the weapon itself.

Arbalest is an Exotic Kinetic Linear Fusion Rifle. Looking at the stats we have Impact 42, Range 42, Stability 55, Handling 32, Reload Speed 35, Charge Time 533, and Magazine 5. Let’s check out the perks on the weapon.

Compounding Force – Fires slugs that cause massive damage to elemental shields of enemy combatants.

Disruption Break – Breaking an enemy’s shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.

This weapon is a handheld railgun that is especially damning against any unit with a shield, be it a Centurion, Captain, Minotaur, Wizard, Knight, Taken… if your target’s got an elemental shield, it can be certain that the Arbalest will deliver a world of hurt to said target.

Arbalest is all about taking out enemy shields, even though it’s a kinetic weapon. If you are running with a team, then it’s a good idea to give them a heads up that you are about to break the shields, and you and they can follow up with damage-focused weapons to finish them off. For example, if teammates have Whisper or Izanagi’s Burden, then they will make quick work of whatever you have just ripped a shield from.

How to get Arbalest

Arbalest first appeared in Season 6 in Season of the Drifter, or Joker’s Wild. Back then you had to run a quest to get the weapon, but thankfully it’s a little easier now, if not slightly more RNG-based.

These days you can get Arbalest from random exotic engrams out there in the wild. This includes Nightfalls, especially higher tier nightfalls like Master and Grandmaster. Also, you can get this from Xur. Xur has exotic weapon protection, so he’ll give you something you don’t have rather than give you something you already have. Therefore if you don’t have Arbalest, then one of the best ways to get it is from Xur. I do a weekly Xur update video, letting you know location and loot, so subscribe to the channel and enable notifications to never miss an update.

Arbalest Buffs coming soon

Arbalest – We always wanted this to have utility in high difficulty PvE, but its lack of Champion mods prevented that, and it’s all about shield breaking already, so we’re fixing that. Now has intrinsic anti-barrier.

Linear Fusion Rifles – In Season 14 we bumped these up but believe that while their potential damage output competes numerically, and they’re extra hot right now because of the sweet Particle Deconstruction artifact mod, they can’t compete with the ease of use of other damage options. Last time they got a precision damage buff, this time it’s a flat damage buff. Increased PvE damage by 10%.

Let me know what you think of Arbalest down in the comments.
