How to get Radiant Dance Machines (Exotic Hunter Leg Armor) Plus Hunter PVE Build
Radiant Dance Machines were introduced in Season of the Lost. In the first few weeks of the season, they were the most overpowered Hunter Exotic armor out there, but then they got disabled and then fixed. Today I am going to check out Radiant Dance Machines, the perks, the story behind why they were nerfed, plus look at a Hunter PVE build in Destiny 2.
First, let’s check out the armor.
Radiant Dance Machines
Radiant Dance Machines are Exotic Hunter Leg Armor. Looking at the perks we have
The Dance – Activating your dodge ability while near targets allows you to dodge additional times for a short period.
The main issue with Radiant Dance Machines are they have been severely neutered. Almost immediately after coming out in Season of the Lost, Bungie has to disable them in PVP, then a few weeks later they were nerfed beyond recognition.
This is due to the perk “The Dance”, which allows for more dodges. But each dodge was giving back half a super bar when combined with high intellect stats, distribution dynamo mods. This was causing havoc in all game modes, invaders in Gambit constantly had their super, you could pretty much have an Arc super constantly for a whole strike or raid, not to mention the issues it would cause in PVP.
Bungie released a fix on September 2nd, under two weeks after the season release saying
“Fixed an issue causing Radiant Dance Machines to trigger armor mods and Stasis Fragments more often than intended.”
Unfortunately, after the nerf we’re left with an Exotic which is hard to place. There are better options out there for PVP when it comes to mobility and dancing around in PVE is tough to give up your slot for, when there are exotics out there with plenty more utility.
I think Bungie is going to have to go back to the drawing board on these and try and rework them (again, since they returned from Destiny 1). Otherwise, I think Guardians are going to get these and simply put them in their vault. Bungie may look to balance them in an upcoming sandbox update, but we’re yet to hear of any upcoming changes.
Let me know what you think in the comments, did you have them when they first came out? Also, how do you think they could be improved?
How to get Radiant Dance Machines
Radiant Dance Machines is one of the newer Exotic pieces of armor introduced in Beyond Light, specifically Season of the Chosen. You can target farm Exotic armor pieces through Legend and Master Lost Sectors. If you complete these activities solo, then there’s a chance at the Exotic armor to drop for you. Every day the Legend and Master Lost Sectors rotate, with two available each day across the planets and moons.
As well as the location for Legend and Master Lost Sectors rotating, the rewards rotate too with different armor pieces for the head, arms, chest, and legs. If you want to check the location and the rewards, then you can do so in-game by completing the Lost Sectors on the regular difficulty and then checking on the map.
To get Radiant Dance Machines, you want to look out for the Exotic Legs Reward. Then if you complete the Legend of Master Lost Sector Solo, you’ll have a chance for that reward. If you don’t get it the first time, keep trying and you’ll get it after a few tries.
Radiant Dance Machines Hunter PVE build
Subclass
I am going to be using The Way of a Thousand Cuts and this is the middle tree Gunslinger.
Abilities
- Knife Trick – Throw a fan of flaming knives that burn targets on hit. Melee ability.
- The Burning Edge – While enemies burn, your dodge ability recharges faster.
- Playing With Fire – Destroying burning enemies recharges Knife Trick more quickly.
- Blade Barrage – Vault into the air and unleash a volley of Solar-charged explosive knives.
I’m going to be using Gamblers Dodge and Knife Trick a fair amount to increase the damage, given I’ll be dodging a lot because of Radiant Dance Machines. We should be getting our super fairly often given the Elemental Well Mods, so using that Blade Barrage to it’s full effect.
Weapons
This build is focused on weapons used for Nightfalls and Lost Sectors this season, but this will change at the end of Season of the Lost. The best thing to do is check out the artifact mods, and you can swap out the weapons accordingly. The only guidance here is Solar weapons, as they are going to help create your Elemental Wells, which complement the build.
Kinetic – Legal Action II
Legal Action II is a Legendary Kinetic Pulse Rifle with a High-Impact Frame meaning it’s slow-firing and high damage. This weapon is more accurate when stationary and aiming down sights. This is good for Nightfalls and other PVE content this season due to the Unstoppable Pulse Rifle mod.
Energy – Ticcu’s Divination
Ticuu’s Divination is an Exotic Energy Combat Bow with some very interesting perks.
Sacred Flame – Hipfiring this weapon fires multiple tracking projectiles. Targets marked by these projectiles explode upon death, or when struck by another Sacred Flame’s explosion.
Causality Arrows – Arrows fired while aiming down sights cause Sacred Flames to instantly detonate. Precision hits with perfectly drawn arrows increase the power of this detonation.
This was the seasonal exotic from Season of the Chosen, but you can pick it up in the Tower in the Exotic Kiosk next to your vault.
Power – Ascendancy
Ascendancy is a Legendary Power Rocket Launcher is a Precision Frame meaning this weapon fires a small auto-tracking missile. Missiles lock onto targets when aimed. This is a good solar weapon and is going to help us spawn Elemental Wells.
Mods
- Elemental Armaments – Combatant weapon final blows with a damage type that matches your subclass element have an escalating chance to spawn an elemental well.
- Elemental Charge – Picking up an elemental well you get charged with light.
- Supreme Wellmaker – Casting your super spawns elemental wells.
- Font of Wisdom – Temporary significant boost to intellect (get your super back faster)
- Argent Ordnance – Increase damage of rockets
- Dynamo – Get your super back faster after using the class ability.
I’m using the Elemental Wells for two things here, getting my super back faster and boosting the power of my rockets. This is going to overall increase our damage output through strikes, nightfalls, and Lost Sectors.
