Path Of The Burning Steps are new Exotic Titan Boots added to Destiny 2 as part of Season of the Splicer. These boots increase your damage output for Solar weapons and abilities, and when combined with certain mods you can really cause some damage in PvE. Today I am going to look at Path of the Burning Steps for Titans, plus how to get the boots, and also put together a Solar Titan build that’s going to have you burning up all enemies in your path in PVE.
First of all, let’s have a look at the Exotic armor and the perks.
Path Of The Burning Steps
Path Of The Burning Steps are Exotic Titan Leg Armor and they come with the perk Firewalker.
Firewalker – Solar final blows periodically grant you an escalating bonus to weapon damage. You are harder to slow or freeze with Stasis, and when you break out, you take no damage from doing so, creating a burst of Solar energy around yourself.
The increased Solar damage is very attractive, meaning Solar weapons and a Solar subclass is going to be on the menu. Weapons like Sunshot, Ticcu’s Divination, Seventh Seraph CQC, The Vision of Confluence, Sojourners Tale, Jotunn, and the Lord of Wolves are all going to be good options here.
There’s also the ‘harder to slow or freeze with Stasis’. This could be good for PVP, but given there has been a major fall off of stasis in the crucible, I’m not sure how effective this is going to be now. Still worth bearing in mind, but I’m going to be focusing my play on PVE content rather than PVP.
Next, let’s have a look at how to get these Exotic Boots.
How to get Path Of The Burning Steps
Path Of The Burning Steps is one of the newer Exotic pieces of armor introduced in the Beyond Light update (specifically Season 14). Previous to Beyond Light and these newer armor pieces being introduced, Exotic armor was acquired at random through Exotic engrams or campaign story content.
Now, there’s a way to target farm Exotic armor pieces through Legend and Master Lost Sectors. If you complete these activities solo, then there’s a chance at the Exotic armor to drop for you. Every day the Legend (1310) and Master (1340) Lost Sectors rotate, with two available each day across Europa, Cosmodrome, Moon, and Tangled Shore.
As well as the location for Legend and Master Lost Sectors rotating, the rewards rotate too with different armor pieces for the head, arms, chest, and legs. If you want to check the location and the rewards, then you can do so in-game by completing the Lost Sectors on the regular difficulty, and then check on the map. The Legend and Master Lost sectors are indicated as a blue shield icon. Another good way to check is a great tool called todayindestiny.com. This will quickly tell you what the location is, plus what the reward is.
To get Path Of The Burning Steps, you want to look out for the Exotic Legs Reward. Then if you complete the Legend of Master Lost Sector Solo, you’ll have a chance for that reward. If you don’t get it the first time, keep trying and you’ll get it after a few tries.
Path Of The Burning Steps Titan PVE build
I’m going to put together a Solar Titan PVE build focusing on Path Of The Burning, plus some solar weapons and some mods to maximize explosions.
Exotic Armour – Path Of The Burning Steps
For this build, I am going to be using the Code of the Devastator, which is the middle tree sun breaker.
- Throwing Hammer — Throw a hammer from a distance. After throwing it, picking up the hammer fully recharges your melee ability.
- Roaring Flames — Kills with your solar abilities increase those abilities’ damage.
- Tireless Warrior — After hitting an enemy with your Throwing Hammer, picking up the hammer triggers your health regeneration.
- Burning Maul — Summon a flaming maul and crush enemies with the force of an earthquake
There’s a couple of elements here that are going to work well. First of all, we’re going to get a throwing hammer, making you deadly from range. Using this melee ability is going to trigger overflowing light, which is going to empower all other abilities. We also have Roaring Flames, where kills with abilities increase damage, which stacks up to three times.
Next up let’s have a look at the weapons.
Kinetic – Any
You can pretty much use anything here, although I’m using Ignition Code from Season of the Splicer. Get this one from the Override activity or Umbral Engrams. If you don’t have access to this, then use what you like in the kinetic slot.
Energy – Sunshot
This is an Exotic Solar Handcannon with a couple of tasty perks. Sunburn – This weapon fires explosive rounds and highlights targets that take damage from Sunshot. Sun Blast – Targets killed with Sunshot explode in Solar energy. You can get this one from random Exotic engrams or from Xur when he’s selling it.
Power – Code Duello
This is great for the build due to Chain Reaction, especially when combined with Energy Accelerant.
I’m going to be using some of the new Elemental Well Mods, plus one of the Seasonal Artifact mods to improve the explosive output of this Titan build.
Explosive Wellmaker (3 Energy) – Rapidly defeating combatants with explosive damage spawns a Solar elemental well.
Elemental Charge (2 Energy) – Become Charged with Light by picking up an elemental well. If the elemental well’s element type matches your subclass element, you gain 2 stacks of Charged with Light.
Font of Wisdom (4 Energy) – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you a temporary significant increase in your Intellect, improving the recharge rate of your Super. This gives you a +50 intellect boost for 30 secs, so this one is going to boost your super regeneration significantly.
Energy Accelerant (2 Energy) – Your Dragonfly, Chain Reaction, and Firefly explosions deal more damage.
Let me know what you think of Path of the Burning Steps, plus if you have any improvements to the build.
