Destiny 2 – How to get Ignition Code (Grenade Launcher)

Ignition Code is a new kinetic grenade launcher added to Destiny 2 as part of Season of the Splicer. Today I am going to go through the stats, the perks to chase for PVE and PVP plus how to get the weapon. I’ll also be checking out the lore.

Ignition Code Stats

Ignition Code is a Kinetic Grenade Launcher with a lightweight frame, meaning it’s a one-shot handheld grenade launcher with remote detonation. Looking at the stats we have 35 for stability, 68 for handling, 75 for velocity, 55 for blast radius, it’s a 90 rpm grenade launcher with 1 in the magazine.

We don’t have many Kinetic grenade launchers, so this one is a welcome addition to the loot pool this season. There was Mountaintop, perhaps the most famous of all grenade launchers, plus a strike-specific one.

Ignition Code PVE/PVP rolls

For PVE Ambitious Assassin and Vorpal Weapon would be good or Surplus and Frenzy are a decent roll. For PVP Quickdraw and Dangerzone would be good. Danger Zone is a new perk added in Season 14 where the blast radius of the weapon increases when surrounded by combatants.

Ambitious Assassin is always the way to go with the PVE rolls, plus the 4th column options are very good on this weapon. For example, we have Danger Zone, Thresh, Vorpal Weapon, Demolitionist, One for All, Frenzy. Vorpal Weapon and Demolitionist jump out as classic perks. It’s got a strong perk pool for sure, and it’s one of the most attractive weapons in Season of the Splicer.

How to get Ignition Code

To get this one it’s a random drop from the end of the Override activity in Season of the Splicer. I saw a lot of people get this on their first run, with many people celebrating given it’s a kinetic grenade launcher.

Artifact Mods

This season’s artifact has some decent mods on it this time around for grenade launchers, so it’s worth keeping an eye on these especially if you like rolling around Destiny 2 with a grenade launcher in your hands.

  • Grenade Launcher Scavenger (Bonus reserves when you pick up ammo)
  • Blast Radius (Become Charged with Light with Grenade or Rocket Launchers)
  • Grenade Launcher Dexterity (Faster ready and stow speed)
  • Unstoppable Grenade Launcher
  • Breach and Clear (When using a Grenade Launcher, damaging a boss, a Champion, or breaking combatant shield reloads your stowed weapons and cuases combatand to take increased damage)

Ignition Code Lore

“I can decode anything with a grenade launcher.” —Saint-14

Ahrrha hauled a metal crate from the drop ship toward the haphazard Eliksni settlement. He moved slowly, matching the pace of his malnourished workmates. Though he had fasted during his trip, Ahrrha knew that his solid frame still made him stand out. He feared it would reveal him as the imposter and infiltrator he was, even while dressed as a House Salvation deserter.

During the approach to Earth, Ahrrha had been overawed. The Last City looked like a perfect ripple of Light from above, dropped from the impassive form of the Great Machine. Ahrrha wondered for the first time in his life if the Spider was wrong about the Guardians.

But his misgivings evaporated as soon as he emerged from the drop ship. Rather than living in a gleaming city of crystal, the Eliksni were packed into the bombed-out ruins of a former war zone. The area they’d been “given” appeared to be on the verge of collapse.

Ahrrha sneered inwardly. Did the Guardians really believe that the Eliksni could be pacified so cheaply? That they were content to live under the boots of the Vanguard, gnawing at scraps? Perhaps it was true for fools like Misraaks, his Awoken-raised hatchling, and cowards like the Empty Weaver.

But the Spider’s acquiescence would not be so easily bought. In fact, Ahrrha thought, the Spider could probably own this settlement within a year. The generosity and goodwill of House Light would soon crumble to greed and hubris, as they all did. And once Spider’s syndicate had a foothold, they would make the Vanguard pay. In Glimmer, weapons, Ether, and blood.

Let me know what you think of Ignition Code down there in the comments, and what roll you got.

That’s it for this guide for how to get Ignition Code.
