Destiny 2 – Bungie Teases 30 New and Returning Weapons for Season of the Splicer

This week Bungie unveiled Season of the Splicer, and together with the new activities and story, we’re all getting a whole bunch of new loot to chase. Bungie gave us a preview this week of the loot, and today I am going to go over everything we know so far about loot in Season of the Splicer including 30 new weapons and new armour sets.

It’s been a big week of news in the Destiny universe, with the unveiling of the new season and also This Week At Bungie on 6th May revealing a whole swathe of new weapons and armor.

Bungie has said we’re getting 30 new and reprised legendary weapons which include weapons from the new activity Override, as well as new playlist weapons from Strikes, Gambit, Crucible plus a new pursuit weapon, and also we’re getting a collection of returning weapons from the Vault of Glass.

I’ll go through these in the order mentioned in the TWAB this week, so let’s kick off with the season pass weapons.

Season Pass Override Weapons

  • Shotgun
  • Machine Gun (Level 30 on the Season Pass)
  • Exotic Sidearm Cryosthesia 77k (Either level 35 on the free track, or instantly on the paid track)

In the past you had to reach this rank on the season pass to get these weapons in the loot pool for the seasonal activity. However, this changed in Season of the Chosen, so keep an eye out in the Override activity for these two weapons.

Override Weapons

  • Pulse Rifle
  • Sidearm
  • Auto Rifle
  • Grenade Launcher

As well as finding these weapons as part of the seasonal activity, we’ll be able to get these weapons from the Umbral Engrams, which you can decode in the H.E.L.M. It’ll be interesting to see if the War Table changes for new objectives, or we’ll get something new to level up.

Ritual Weapon

  • Null Composure (Fusion Rifle)

There’s a new quest to earn the Null Composure Fusion Rifle. Once the weapon is unlocked, you can collect Gambit, Crucible, and Vanguard themed weapon ornaments to further customize your style.

Playlist Weapons

  • Grenade Launcher (Strikes)
  • Hand Cannon (Crucible)
  • Submachine Gun (Gambit)

In crucible we have The Keening Sidearm and Frozen Orbit Sniper, in Gambit Bottom Dollar Hand Cannon and Trinary System Fusion and in Strikes we have Royal Entry Rockets and The THird Axiom. It’s great to be adding to the loot pool for playlist specific weapons. I spent a good amount of time in Strikes this season farming for the Royal Entry, and I look forward to doing it again this coming season.

Nightfall Weapons

  • Hung Jury (Scout Rifle)
  • Sniper Rifle
  • Fusion Rifle

For the endgame focused Guardians out there, three familiar weapons will be up for grabs. Like last Season, each weapon will be on a weekly rotation in Nightfall playlists. Upping the difficulty will give you a higher drop chance as you search for desired rolls. Starting June 22, Grandmaster Nightfalls will become available, introducing Adept versions of each weapon.

Raid Weapons

  • Vex Mythoclast (Exotic Fusion Rifle)

Legendary Weapons

  • Crown Splitter Titan Sword
  • Eternity’s Edge Warlock Sword
  • Quickfang Hunter Sword
  • Solstice of Heroes Shotgun

Iron Banner Weapons

  • Occluded Finality (Sniper Rifle)
  • Finite Impactor (Hand Cannon)
  • New Machine Gun
  • New Shotgun

As well as these weapons we’ve either seen in trailers or in the TWAB, there’s also more Vault of Glass weapons to be reprised. Given we know we have the Fatebringer Seal, it stands to reason we’ll be getting the whole set of weapons back which include:

  • Fatebringer
  • Vision of Confluence
  • Found Verdict
  • Atheon’s Epilogue
  • Praedyth’s Revenger
  • Praedyth’s Timepiece
  • Corrective Measure
  • Praetorian Foil
  • Hezen Vengeance

Bungie also alluded to more…

“Now, here’s the part where we say, “and more.” There are still more weapons left for you to discover as you play. Some of the best feelings in Destiny are those moments where you uncover a sweet weapon with the perfect perk combination. Want an Auto Rifle that gains extra damage after defeating an enemy with a grenade? How about a Sniper that’s quick on the draw, but can also be rolled with Dragonfly? Every Season invites interesting choices and new playstyles. The team has cooked up some fun new perks this season too, so you’ll have some opportunity to mix some flavors you know with fresh ingredients. We haven’t even covered Artifact mods yet, which can turn some of these weapons up to 11.”

From the list, I’m probably most excited about Fatebringer, Vision of Confluence, and Hung Jury. Hung Jury was a legendary scout rifle from Destiny 1 sold by Dead Orbit. Bungie has confirmed there’s going to be new perks too, which means we’re going to have a whole bunch of new tools to play with next season which will switch up how we play the game.

As well as the weapons, the way of acquiring the armour has changed a little bit this season. Bungie said:

“Previously, you would earn this armor by leveling your Season Rank and unlocking new pieces on the Seasonal Track. Moving forward, Seasonal Armor will be earned from Seasonal activities. You’ll also be able to guarantee pieces from these sets using Focused Umbral Engrams. Season Rank levels that once featured armor have been updated with packages of Glimmer, Legendary Shards, Upgrade Modules, Exotic Engrams, Enhancement Cores, and Enhancement Prisms. Universal Armor Ornaments will continue to be earned towards the end of the Season Pass.”

Let me know down in the comments what you think of the loot so far, and what you’re most hyped to get your hands on.

That’s it for this look at 30 new weapons coming in Season of the Splicer.
