Destiny 2 – How to get Sola’s Scar (Legendary Sword) and Flaming Sword Build
Sola’s Scar is a new legendary sword put into Destiny 2 in Season of the Chosen, and this one is exclusive to Trials of Osiris. This is another caster frame sword similar to Temptation’s Hook, although this time it’s Solar. Today I am going to look at the sword, the stats, perks and god roll to chase as well as how to get Sola’s Scar in Destiny 2.
Sola’s Scar Stats
Sola’s Scar is a Legendary Power Solar Sword. It’s a Caster Frame meaning you can launch a heavy projectile attack. Heavy attacks are stronger with full energy. Looking at the stats we have Swing Speed 46, Impact 60, Defense 60, Charge Rate 32 and Ammo Capacity 60.
Comparing this to Temptation’s Hook, which is another caster frame but with the arc element. Sola’s Scar has the same swing speed at 46, better impact at +14 but slower charge time. This sword is going to be great if you’re into creating solar builds.
Sola’s Scar God Rolls
Tireless Blade and En Garde is a good roll to look out for, but one of the most interesting features of this sword is that it can roll with Chain Reaction. This is where each final blow with the weapon creates an elemental damage explosion. I think this is the only sword that can have Chain Reaction roll on it, which makes it potentially explosive. Popular rolls out there include Tireless Blade and Chain Reaction, Relentless Strikes and Vorpal Weapon.
How to get Sola’s Scar
To get this one you’ll have to run some Trials of Osiris. This is an exclusive weapon to that playlist. The weapons do rotate each week, and I do a video each Friday letting you know the loot and weapons available each week, so subscribe and hit the notifications bell to never miss a trials update. At the time of making the video, it’s available as the 3 win reward and is therefore in the Trials engram. This is part of one of the weekly bounties for Trials, so if you don’t like trials or PVP then this is an easy way to get trials to loot every week.
Next, let’s have a look at a build for this sword in PVE. This is a solar focused Flaming Sword build, centred around Sola’s Scar and is great for PVE content. I am going to be using a Titan build, but you could swap this out for the class of your choice.
Flaming Sword Sola’s Scar build
Exotic Armour
For this build I am using Phoenix Cradle, which is an Exotic Titan Leg Armor. Looking at the perks we have:
- Beacons of Empowerment – Sun Warrior lasts twice as long. Allies who pass through your Sunspots are granted Sun Warrior.
The main focus of this exotic armour is Sun Warrior, and we’ll get onto what that does in a minute. Beacons of Empowerment is very good as we’re going to get Sun Warrior for twice as long as without this exotic. Also, your teammates are going to get Sun Warrior too, which is going to help increase the overall damage output for the team.
Let’s have a look at the subclass.
Subclass
For this build we’re using Code of the Siegebreaker, which is bottom tree sunbreaker. Let’s have a look at the perks.
- Mortar Blast — Strike an enemy with this melee ability to release a Solar explosion, setting nearby enemies on fire.
- Sol Invictus — Solar ability kills restore your health. Grenade, melee ability and Sun Warrior kill leave a deadly Sunspot in their wake.
- Sun Warrior — Passing through a Sunspot causes your grenade and melee abilities to recharge faster and your Super to last longer. It also increases all damage you do.
- Endless Siege — Hammers create a Sunspot on impact. While standing in Sunspots, you throw hammers faster.
Sol Invictus allows us to generate sunspots with a grenade, melee and sun warrior kills. Sun Warrior is great as that’s going to help regenerate grenade and melee abilities and our supers to last longer. That’s good as if we’re getting more grenades and more melee then it’s more likely to create more sunspots. As well as recharging abilities faster, sun warrior increases your damage output. Paired with Phoenix Cradle, you also empower your teammates. The more sunspots we can create, the more we’re going to improve the damage output for the whole fireteam.
Sun Warrior gives about a 20% damage increase to all weapons, plus it’s better than a well of radiance as you can move around. Pair that with giving this buff to your fire team, then you’re going to be the MVP of any strike or nightfall team.
Let’s have a look at the weapons for the build.
Weapons
The focus of the build is Sola’s Scar, but I am backing that up with some powerful kinetic and energy weapons.
First Extraordinary Rendition in the Kinetic Slot and then Jotunn in the Energy slot. Jotunn is an Exotic Energy Fusion Rifle. Looking at the perks we have:
- Charge Shot – Hold down the trigger to charge up a tracking shot that explodes and burns on impact.
Finally I am using Solar’s Scar and we’ve heard about this one already.
Next, let’s look at the mods.
Mods
I’m using a combination of all the combat mods here, Charged with Light and Elemental Wells.
Elemental Charge (2 Energy) – Become Charged with Light by picking up an elemental well. If the elemental well’s element type matches your subclass element, you gain 2 stacks of Charged with Light.
Elemental Ordnance (3 Energy) – Defeating a combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type. It’s best to use Use Vortex, Thermite, or Pulse Grenades to get the most use out of this mod.
Font of Wisdom (4 Energy) – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you a temporary significant increase in your Intellect, improving the recharge rate of your Super. This gives you a +50 intellect boost for 30 secs, so this one is going to boost your super regeneration significantly. Intellect cannot go above 100.
Lucent Blade – While Charged with Light, dealing damage with a Sword gives you bonus Sword damage for 5 seconds, consuming one stack of Charged with Light.
Check out the build for the sword in PVE. This is great for Solar builds whether you are a Hunter, Warlock or Titan. I think the main aspects of the buils here are Solar’s Scar, a Solar subclass and Lucent Blade. If you have some good luck and get Chain Reaction of Solar’s Scar then that’s great as the elemental explosions are going to cause more damage.
Let me know what you think of Sola’s Scar and also if you have made any builds with the weapon.
