Destiny 2 – How to get The Third Axiom (Legendary Pulse RIfle)
The Third Axiom is a new pulse rifle added into Destiny 2 and there’s a big comparison between this and Bygones, a beloved Gambit Pulse Rifle that has been sunset. Today I am going to look at the weapon the stats and god rolls to chase as well as how to get The Third Axiom in Destiny 2.
The Third Axiom is a Legendary Energy Arc Pulse Rifle which is an Adaptive Frame meaning ti has a well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy. Looking at the stats we have Impact 29, Range 54, Stability 60, Handling 52, Reload Speed 51, Rounds Per Minute 390 and Magazine 36.
The Third Axiom can be compared to Last Perdition with the same impact, more range +9, more stability +3, more handling +8 and also better reload speed at +3. It has 2 less in the magazine, but it’s not something you’ll probably notice with a pulse rifle. It’s pretty much better in every way and if you’re looking for an Arc energy weapon to use, perhaps with the new Elemental Wells then The Third Axiom could be a good shout.
The Third Axiom Perks and God Rolls
Looking at the perks and god rolls to chase. For PVE Feeding Frenzy and Rampage would be good, with feeding frenzy giving you that better reload speed after a kill and then the increase in damage with Rampage, which stacks up to 3 times. Killing Wind and DragonFly would be another fun roll in PVE, with Dragon Fly creating the elemental damage explosions.
For PVP Zen Moment and Vorpal Weapon would be good as well as Rangefinder and Multikill clip. It has a huge amount of perks on this gun, so the combinations are pretty much endless. I got Surplus and Disruption Break on mine, which isn’t too bad for PVP and could pair well with a nice kinetic weapon.
How to get The Third Axiom
To get this one it’s a random drop from the strike playlist this season. It’s very RNG based, you simply get a chance at a drop at the end of strikes or nightfalls. I was lucky and got two to drop for me for some reason, maybe I’d stored up my RNG and I was blessed at once. I got Surplus and One for All for the other roll.
Bell of Conquest mods
There’s a mod on the Bell of Conquests (seasonal artefact) this season that will help out and make this weapon better if you’re planning on using it. Unstoppable Pulse Rifle, so if you’re going into Lost Sectors or Nightfalls and you like using Pulse Rifles then definitely pick this one up.
The Third Axiom is being compared to the old Bygones, a pulse rifle that used to drop from Gambit. It’s an all-round strong Pulse Rifle that’s good for a wide range of content whether you enjoy PVP or PVE content.
Third Axiom Build
If you’re looking for a decent build this season then you could work The Third Axiom into a build. For this one I am focusing on the Arc damage type.
Exotic Armour – Raiden Flux
The main focus for this build is going to be Raiden Flux, and let’s have a look at the perks. This one is a random drop, or you can get this from Xur when he’s around at the weekends. Raiden Flux is an Exotic Hunter Chest Armor. Looking at the perks we have Synapse Junctions – Quick successive attacks with Arc Staff increase its damage output and duration. The main benefit here is Synapse Junctions which I’ll be using with an arc subclass to extend the duration of the super.
Subclass – Way of the Wind (Bottom-tree Arcstrider)
For our subclass I am using The Way of the Wind, which is bottom tree arc strider.
- Disorienting Blow – Strike an enemy with this melee ability to disorient the target and nearby enemies.
- Focused Breathing – Sprinting recharges your dodge ability. Increased maximum sprint speed.
- Combat Meditation – While critically wounded, melee and grenades recharge drastically faster.
- Lightning Reflexes – You are harder to kill while dodging.
- Gambler’s Dodge – Dodge to perform a deft tumble, avoiding enemy attack. Dodging near enemies fully recharges your melee ability.
There’s a couple of things here. Striking an enemy with Disorientating Blow is good and pretty powerful in PVE to help confuse the enemies if you’re surrounded by red and yellow bar enemies. Focused Breathing is great because sprinting is going to be recharging our dodge and in turn Gambler’s Dodge recharges our melee ability. I’m going to be using that melee ability in combination with some weapons and traits later on in the build. Lightning Reflexes is great as you’re going to be pretty much invincible when you’re in your super and you’re dodging around.
Weapons
Kinetic: Traveler’s Chosen
Energy: The Third Axiom
Power: Subzero Salvo
Traveler’s Chosen is a great exotic kinetic sidearm from Season of Arrivals. Getting kills with this weapon allows you to geenrate ability energy, like Demolitionist on Steroids. You can pick this up from the Exotic Kiosk in the Tower. I am also going to be using Surprise Attack in this build, for increase damage output for sidearms.
Subzero Salvo is the power weapon of choice because it’s Arc.
Next up, lets look at the mods.
Mods
Surprise attack – While Charged with Light, reloading or readying a Sidearm will consume all stacks of Charged with Light and convert them into stacks of a major damage buff, which are depleted as you damage combatants with that Sidearm. But it does give you a minus 10 intellect.
Elemental Charge (2 Energy) – Become Charged with Light by picking up an elemental well. If the elemental well’s element type matches your subclass element, you gain 2 stacks of Charged with Light. If you have Stacks on Stacks mod equipped, then a matching elemental well will give you four stacks or charged with light, rather than three. Non-matching elemental wells grant two stacks of charged with light.
Elemental Armaments (2 Energy) – Weapon takedowns with a damage type that matches your subclass element have an escalating chance to spawn an elemental well. There’s approx 10% chance of a well to spawn and this stacks until a well spawns, with works similar to charge harvester. You have to use a weapon that matches your subclass and one will spawn every 6-10 kills. Stasis uses are at a slight disadvantage as they only have Salvations Grip for a Stasis weapon right now.
Font of Wisdom (4 Energy) – Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you a temporary significant increase in your Intellect, improving the recharge rate of your Super. This gives you a +50 intellect boost for 30 secs, so this one is going to boost your super regeneration significantly. Intellect cannot go above 100.
Gameplay
- Use The Third Axiom to generate Elemental Wells
- Get charged with light through sidearm kills or by picking up orbs
- Dish out some super charged sidearm kills through Surprise Attack
- Get some kills with Trinity Ghoul and clear out a bunch of enemies
- Smash some enemies in face with your melee to disorient them, dodge to refill your melee
- Build up super energy through Font of Wisdom
- Unleash your super, dodge and whack the enemies to extend the super duration through the perks on Raiden Flux
