Beyond Light

Destiny 2 – How to get Subzero Salvo (Legendary Rocket Launcher)

Subzero Salvo is a new rocket launcher added into the game as part of the Europa set of weapons. Rockets maybe in a tough spot right now, but this one is a pretty good! Today I am going to look at the weapon stats, the rolls to chase for PVE plus how to get the weapon.

Subzero Salvo is a Legendary Power Rocket Launcher which is a Precision Frame meaning this weapon fires a small auto-tracking missile. Missiles lock onto targets when aimed. In terms of the stats it’s got Stability 45, Handling 47, Reload Speed 31, Velocity 53, Blast Radius 65, Rounds Per Minute 15, Magazine 1.

The curated roll comes with Demolitionist and Ambitious Assassin as well as Impact Casing and Hard Launch. For PVE Chain Reaction and Ambitious Assassin would be good. Chain Reaction is a new perk in Beyond Light where each final blow with the weapon creates an elemental damage explosion. Another good combo for PVE might be cluster bomb and quick draw, so if you didn’t get the god roll then keep an eye out for this one too! The most popular combo for this weapon in the community at the moment is Chain Reaction and Ambitious Assassin.

To get this weapon you can get it from the campaign, but also from Varik’s targetted weapon quests. To be able to pick these up you have to complete Europan Explorer I on Varik’s Sabotage menu, then you can purchse the quest in exchange for 30 Herealways pieces. Then simply complete the objectives and head back to Variks to pick up the Rocket Launcher.

It’s probably worth saying that rockets are in a tough spot in the game at the moment and sorely in need of a buff to make them feel special once again. There is a good charged with light mod avalable called Argent Ordnance which grants increased damage. It says

“While Charged with Light, readying or firing a Rocket Launcher grants it increased damage and reload speed. Damaging a combatant with a rocket consumes one stack of Charged with Light.”

This does boost rockets a little bit. Personally it’s fun in PVE, but probably not worth it in PVP given the other options that are available.

Let me know down in the comments what you think of this Rocket launcher, plus rockets in general… I’d love to hear how they could be improved.
