Destiny 2 – How to get The Lament (Exotic Sword)
The Lament is one of the most exciting exotics coming to Destiny 2 Beyond Light. First of all, it’s sword crossed with a CHAINSAW and second of all, it’s going to really help you out with Barrier Champions as it has shield bypass and shield piercing capabilities. The following is a guide for how to get The Lament Exotic Sword in Destiny 2 including the Exotic Quest preview.
The Lament isn’t currently available in the game, but the community expects it to be released in the coming weeks. There’s plenty of hype around the Lament because of its ability to make swiss cheese out of champions. That is going to come in very useful when it comes to the Legend Lost Sectors in Beyond Light and getting those exotics. Also, this guide is full of spoilers for upcoming quests and stuff, so if you don’t like this kind of thing then feel free turn off the video now and watch something else. However, if you’re like me and can’t resist spoilers… then keep watching my friends.
Let’s dive into the steps.
Step 1. Locate Dead Exos
Locate and scan 3 dead Exos on Europa. There are 9 in total we believe, but only 8 are accessible in the game right now. Here are 3 which are very easy to access, the first is Cadmus Ridge on a Hill, the second is at the end of the Perdition Lost Sector and the third is at the end of the Concealed Void lost sector. Step 2. Locate the Giant Exo
Locate the Giant Exo hidden in the Exo facility. This isn’t currently available in the game, as the Creation area is blocked off. However, there is a way we can access that area using a combination of Salvation’s Grip, a Sword and some boots to make jumping nice and easy. When the quest goes live I imagine this will be MUCH easier to access. But for now, here’s the glitch method.
Now you’ve done this, you just need to make your way to the Creation Area. Follow the path I take and I’ll meet you on the other side.
Now you are inside the secret area you can explore and you’ll soon find the HUGE Exo Head, which appears to be the AI of Clovis Bray. It appears as if there’s a few Dead Exos in here too. The whole place is pretty creepy. You have to Glitch in right now, but later on, you’ll most likely be able to access it through BrayExoScience.
Step 3. Giant Expectations
The next step of the quest is to prove yourself to the Clovis AI by killing Vex on Europa with a Sword and get some Minotaur, Hydra, Cyclops Sword final blows. You’ll need 100 sword kills and 20 final blows.

The next step of the quest is to complete the post-campaign quests.

Step 5. Giant Expectations
The next step of the quest is a bit of a mystery. Prove your worth to the Clovis AI by completing an Exo Challenge. We don’t have Exo Challenges in the game at the moment, but there is a triumph which lists the different Exo Challenges. Reddit user done6868 also provided some good info
Simulation: Safeguard – Test your defensive abilities amongst a Vex onslaught.<br>Simulation: Survival – Survive the harsh weather as you take down the Vex.<br>Simulation: Agility – Test your dexterity as you move against the Vex
It seems like these may be simulations perhaps created by Clovis for training against the Vex. Safeguard sounds like a standard Horde Mode, Survival sounds very cool with battling against the wealth as well as the Vex and Agility looks like a jumping puzzle with combat. More will be revealed in the coming weeks, but these Exo challenges sound super fun.
Step 6. Giant Expectations
Next up we have to defeat 60 vex with finishers, where powerful Vex grant the most efficient progress. The Perdition Lost Sector should be good to for this one.
Step 7. Rescue the Past
For the next step, we have head to the Glassway Strike and location the hidden blade pieces. We don’t yet have locations for those, but I’ll be sure to release a specific guide when the quest is live.
Step 8. Speak to Banshee
Go to the Tower and have a chat with the gunsmith
Step 9. Blade of Broken Dreams
Next up we have to search Eventide Ruins for an abandoned bunker and explore inside. Once again, when the quest is live check back in and the location will be revealed.
Step 10. Complete Reforging the Past
The final step of the quest sounds interesting. Complete the mission “Reforging the Past” to save the Clovis AI from being destroyed. We’ll likely have a mission marker on the map and we’ll need to complete that. Given the history with Clovis (he was an awful man!) it’s interesting to know we’re going to save the AI.
Step 11. Last Stop
Finally, head back to the Tower and speak to Banshee.<br>At this point you’ll get the new Sword, so let’s check it out!
The Lament is an Exotic Power Sword.
Banshee’s Wail
Increases damage, shield bypass, and adds shield piercing to all attacks.
Gain stacks when dealing with damage to revved attacks.
Additional stacks increase the damage and damage resistance of heavy attacks.
Revved Consumption – Damaging a combatant heals the wielder.
