Destiny 2 – How to get Stars In Shadow (Legendary Pulse Rifle)
Beyond Light has been out for nearly a week and we’re starting to see some of the new weapons out there in the wild and rise to the top of the charts in both PVE and PVP. One of those weapons is Stars in Shadow, and this could be one of the best Pulse Rifles in the game right now. In this video today I’ll have a look at the weapon, check out some good rolls for both PVP and PVE and tell you how to get it. The following is a guide for how to get Stars in Shadow in Destiny 2 Beyond Light.
If you have been playing Destiny 2 for some time then you probably have a vault full of old weapons, some which would have been sunset recently so you are probably on the lookout for some new weapons to go into your favourite activity whether you’re a PVE or PVP player. Well, Stars in Shadow has been released in Destiny 2 Beyond Light and this one is an absolute beast of a Pulse Rifle.
Let’s check out the weapon in a little more detail:
Stars in Shadow is a Legendary Energy Pulse Rifle dealing solar damage. It’s a High-Impact frame meaning it’s slow firing and has high damage. The weapon is also more accurate when stationary and aiming down sights. Looking at the stats it has 33 for impact, 66 for range, 49 for stability, 31 for handling and 41 for reload speed. it’s a 340 rounds per minute pulse rifle with 28 in the magazine. In terms of the hidden stats it’s got 28 for aim assist, 49 for inventory size, 64 for recoil direction and 18 for zoom. That recoil direction is really going to help you out.
The curated roll comes with Small Bore for increased range and stability. Allow Magazine for faster reloading when the magazine is empty, Outlaw for precision kills decreasing reload speed and Thresh (which is a new perk) where killing combatants generate a small amount of super energy.
For PVE Kill Clip and Outlaw would be a good roll and for PVP Killing Wind and Snapshot Sights would be good. Thresh seems like a great perk though, so keep an eye out on that and see if you can get Stars in Shadow with that on it. It’s early days so we’re still finding the best perk combinations, but Stars in Shadow looks pretty versatile in both game modes. Let me know down in the comments what roll you’ve got and which game mode you are having the most fun with this weapon.
Some of the most popular rolls with the community at the moment according to light.gg are Arrowhead Brake, Accurized Rounds, Outlaw and Killclip. That’s the roll that seems to be dropping most frequently closely followed by Corkscrew Rifling, Tactical Mag, Feeding Frenzy and Thresh.
To get this weapon you want to run crucible matches. It’s a random drop at the end of matches, so there’s no sure way to get this one. I did get 3 to drop for me in one play session this morning, all in Survival Freelance. But it should be as simple as running crucible and getting it to drop from there, or when you rank up at Lord Shaxx. Let me know down in the comments if you find anywhere else to get this weapon to drop. I’ve been spending my time split across all the game modes and I have only seen this drop in Crucible so far.
Hig-impact Pulse Rifles have been good in the game since the start of Season of Arrivals (last season) with Bungie giving them a buff. In update 2.9.0 Bungie said
“High-Impact Pulse Rifle damage per bullet from 21 to 22 – this changes it from six crits to five crits/one body to kill a guardian in PvP at most resiliences.”
That may not sound a lot, but in practice, this is a really nice change. In previous seasons Redrix was great, the crucible pinnacle weapon. Also, we had Cold Denial last season, which was a drop on the Season pass and then obtainable from Umbral Engrams.
I don’t normally spend too much time in Crucible, but I found this gun made my time in there much easier and fun and I was getting off the odd double kill here and there and holding my our in the Survival game mode. That’s one tip early on in the season too that if you’re looking to level up from 1200 to 1250 so you can get into the endgame content nice and quickly, then spending as much time as you can in Survival gives you great loot that can help you level up towards the hard cap. If you get consecutive wins then you’ll even get drops in between rounds in survival, with the addition of 3 or 4 drops at the end. This is one of the most efficient methods of levelling up if it’s early days. If you’re watching this in the future, then you’ll likely be levelled up to 1250.
I’m having a lot of fun with this gun, and I think you will too so drop into the crucible and get yourself a Stars in Shadow and let me know down in comments what you think of it.
