Destiny 2 – How to get First In, Last Out (Legendary Shotgun)
The First In, Last Out shotgun has returned in Season of Arrivals. This is a great Slug Shotgun which has a lot of potential with the right rolls. Plus, we’ve had a major buff this season to slug shotguns, so this one is a must-have weapon. The following is a guide for how to get the First In, Last Out Shotgun in Destiny 2.
The First In, Last Out Shotgun was originally introduced in Season 1 of Destiny 2 way back in 2017. This one now has returned to us in Season of Arrivals and fits nicely in with the current sandbox due to the buff to slug shotguns. This shotgun archetype had a 30% buff in PVE this season, meaning some big damage and a great choice for PVE activities like Strikes, Raids and Contact Public events.
This is a precision frame shotgun meaning the recoil pattern is much more predictable and this one can also roll with Vorpal Weapon, which is a very nice perk whether you’re in PVE or PVP – so it’s going to have some versatility. It deals Arc Damage and sits in the Energy Slot.
Looking at the stats for First In, Last Out we have 70 for impact, 62 for range, 46 for stability, 64 for handling and 50 for reload speed. This one is 65 rounds per minute with 6 in the magazine.
The curated roll here comes with Vorpal Weapon for that increase in damage against bosses, vehicles and Guardians with their Super Active. It also comes with Pulse Monitor for that automatic reload of the magazine and improves weapon handling when critically wounded, even when the weapon is stowed. Also, Assault Mag for the increase to stability and rate of fire. Finally, it’s got Rifle Barrel for the increase in range and decrease in handling.
Let’s have a look at the possible perk combinations. In the final column, we can have demolitionist, Vorpal Weapon, Surrounded and Opening Shot. In the 3rd column, we’ve got outlaw, auto loading holster, hip-fire grip and slideshot.
For PVE I would go for either Surrounded or Vorpal Weapon and pair that up with Outlaw. For PVP Opening Shot, Slideshot would be a good roll.
To get this weapon you’ll want to get your hands on an Exodus Engram for a chance at a drop. There are 4 weapons in the Exodus Engrams – the Ikelos SMG, Ikelos Sniper, First In, Last Out shotgun and Berenger’s Memory Grenade Launcher. You can get Exodus Engrams by completing steps in the quest for Zavala called Exodus: Preparation.
The first step here is to go and speak to Zavala. He’ll let you know it’s down to us to protect the system now that the Pyramids have arrived and sends us on a quest around the planets that are going to be vaulted in Beyond Light – Titan, Io, Mercury and Mars.
Once you have spoken to Zavala, he’ll then send to you Sloan on Titan. What you have to do here is complete a Weekly Bounty from Sloane. There are 2 on offer and you have a choice of some activities – this might be running a strike, killing a few enemies somewhere specific on the map or running public events. Read the bounty and then get on with those activities.
When you have finished the activity head back to Sloane and you’ll get your Exodus Engram. Then head on over to the Umbral Decoder to decode the engram for a chance at a drop of this weapon. There’s a 1 in 4 chance of getting it.
If you want more Exodus Engrams, then keep on with the Exodus Preparation quest and you’ll visit Asher on Io, Brother Vance on Mercury and Ana on Mars. There’s some great lore available as well as more Exodus Engrams.
Once you have the weapons you can then focus your Umbral Engrams through the Prismatic Recaster to create more Exodus Focused Engrams. Once you have these focusing options you can narrow it down to a 50/50 chance for getting the Shotgun, so much more of a chance to get the weapon you want.
Get your hands on First In, Last Out and then take it for a spin in your favourite activity. Personally, I like it in PVE and I used it through the weekly Interference Mission. Its a good way to clear ads, and also get some shots off on bosses too if you have a Titan Bubble or a Warlock well or something similar. The 30% buff in PVE with slug shotguns makes these much more viable than they ever have been plus this isn’t going to be sunset, so get this weapon now and add a few rolls to your collection.
Let me know what you think of the First In, Last Out Shotgun. How does it compare to other shotguns like Chaperone or Blasphemer?
