Anarchy is still to this day on of the best exotics in the game. It’s an exotic grenade launcher that’s tied to the Scourge of the Past raid, and until recently the drop rate has been tiny, leading to a slim chance of getting this weapon. That’s all changed recently due to a couple of factors, making this the best time to go for and get this amazing exotic grenade launcher. The following is a guide for how to farm Anarchy in Destiny 2.
Anarchy is a great power weapon that allows you to deliver huge damage per second to bosses in Destiny 2, and had led to many hours of frustration in the game with the limited drop rate. You had a chance of this dropping from the final encounter in the Scourge of the Past raid, but the drop rate was pretty small. That has now changed, making this a great time to jump in and get Anarchy before Destiny 2: Beyond Light, as no doubt, it will come in handy for whatever endgame activity Bungie has in store for us in the fall DLC.
Starting in September some locations, activities and raids will be going away into the Destiny Content Vault. Destiny has become too big and hard to maintain, so Bungie is streamlining the content offer by cycling in and out the content into the vault. One of those pieces of content is Scourge of the Past raid and with it the chance to get Anarchy. Bungie has said exotics will still be obtainable, however, we don’t yet know the route to that content. This season we’ve seen the introduction of the exotic Cipher, but it’s a limited currency – we only have one with 4-5 exotics on offer from Rahool. Now is, therefore, a great time to jump in.
Previously we only had one chance per week. However, now due to Moments of Triumph, which were introduced into the game this week the weekly reward limit has been lifted. Bungie said “Five raids. Five havens of villainy that have threatened humanity for years. Immortalize the end of an era and storm the gates of your favourite encounters until you walk out with the gear you came for. During Moments of Triumph, the weekly reward limit has been lifted for Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Crown of Sorrow, and Scourge of the Past.”
This is combined with the buff to drop rates with Bungie saying “The following raid Exotics now have increased drop chances: One Thousand Voices, Anarchy, Always on Time (Exotic Sparrow from secret chest in Scourge of the Past) NOTE: Drop chance begins at 10% and increases to a max of 50% over 20 clears.”
Both of these changes are good news for us all trying to get Anarchy as we can repeat the final encounter over and over, and if we don’t get a drop then the chance for a drop will go up on every unsuccessful drop.
To farm Anarchy you’ll need to either run through the Scourge of the Past raid with 5 others, or join one in progress. I hadn’t done much raiding in D2 and I Found a team on the Bungie Companion app. They were awesome, taught me the encounters and I met 5 new people along the way.
Once you get to the final boss you’ll want to share that checkpoint between another character or characters. So if you’re at the final encounter, wipe and all start at the same point. From there quickly change characters and you’ll now have that checkpoint saved on another Guardian. One you have that checkpoint, go back to your original Guardian and carry on with the final encounter.
Anarchy only drops from the final encounter after defeating the Insurrection Prime, Kell’s Scourge final boss. This takes a little bit of coordination and there’s plenty of guides out there on how to do this encounter. The key point here is to get to the final encounter and get that checkpoint so you can share this amongst all your characters and repeat until you get Anarchy to drop for you.
Anarchy is an exotic, power grenade launcher that features Arc Traps. These are grenades that stick to surfaces and chain arc bolts to other mines. Its got max velocity stats, 64 stability, 63 handling and is 150 rounds per min with 6 in the mag. Its great for DPS and will help you take down dungeon and raid bosses in no time at all, so its definitely a good one to pick up before Destiny 2: Beyond Light in September.
Let me know what you think of the changes in moments of triumph and if you’ve had any luck getting Anarchy to drop for you.
