Destiny 2 – How to get Death Adder (Legendary Submachine Gun)
Death Adder is a returning Submachine Gun that’s come back in Season of Arrivals. It’s not a bad weapon if you’re looking for replacement weapons for your soon to be sunset collection. The following is a guide for how to get Death Adder in Destiny 2.
Death Adder is a legendary, energy submachine gun that deals Solar damage. Its a lightweight frame SMG meaning it’s got superb handling and you move faster with this weapon equipped.
In terms of stats it’s got 15 for damage, 36 for range, 42 for stability, 64 for handling and 33 for reload speed. It’s a 900 rpm smg with 37 in the magazine. For the hidden stats this one has 55 aim assist and a huge 95 for recoil.
The curated roll comes with Eye of the Storm where this becomes more accurate and boosts handling as your health gets lower. Also Hip Fire Grip for that increase in accuracy, stability and precision hit targeting when firing from the hip.
For PVE you’ll want something like Dragonfly and Subsistence as well as Appended Mag and Fluted Barrel. For PVP Moving Target and Dynamic Sway Reduction, Accurized Rounds and Full Bore.
To get this weapon you’ll want to run the Prophecy Dungeon. You can start this activity from the tower. I’d recommend being around 1040 before you go in, otherwise, the enemies are going to hit pretty hard. It’s possible to go in lower, but to make your life easier I’d be as high power level as possible.
I got this to drop for me after the 3rd encounter in the cube room and then again from the secret chest on the way to the final boss room during the sparrow/ribbon sequence – although this maybe different for you. The Prophecy Dungeon is definitely the place to get this weapon though.
Lots of people are comparing this gun to the Recluse. Let’s have a look at the stats comparison.
Recluse | Death Adder | |
Impact | 15 | 15 |
Range | 41 | 36 |
Stability | 52 | 42 |
Handling | 67 | 64 |
Reload Speed | 35 | 33 |
RPM | 900 | 900 |
Magazine | 36 | 37 |
They look pretty similar in the stats, and visually they’re very similar (almost the same) but the main difference is the perks. Specifically, Master of Arms, where kills with any weapon improve the damage of this weapon for a short time. Combined with Feeding Frenzy, that makes Recluse insane – even after its nerf.
Its is possible to get Feeding Frenzy on Death Adder, but nothing really comes close to Master of Arms. Dragon Fly is possibly the best perk option in that slot for PVE.
I’d say Death Adder is pretty good, but it’s not a direct replacement for Recluse. The Ikelos SMG is also good this season, but when it comes to sunsetting still nothing really comes close to the power of Recluse.
Let me know what you think of Death Adder and how it compares to Recluse?
