Destiny 2 – How to Farm Laurels FAST
Guardian Games is here and with it comes a new item to collect called laurels. During the games, we’ll need to collect these items as they help us work towards various goals like medals and triumphs allowing our class to be the best of the games as well as getting a new exotic weapon called Heir Apparent, arguably the most attractive reward in the latest seasonal event. The following is a guide for how to farm laurels fast in Destiny 2.
Laurels are mote-like items that each class generates in various activities in Destiny 2 and are a kind of sub-currency found within Guardian Games.
Why farm laurels?
You’ll want to farm laurels to complete the medals to boost your class’ ranking in Guardian Games. Also, there’s a bunch of triumphs you’ll want to complete to work towards the new exotic heavy machine gun Hier Apparent. The Triumph that relates to laurels include Great Deeds – Collecting Laurels in activities (Gambit, Strikes, Forges, Destinations). Also, laurels do count towards gold, silver and bronze medals – so you’ll be wanting to farm laurels for multiple reasons.
How do I generate laurels?
To generate laurels you’ll want to get ability kills in activities which include grenade, charged melee and super kills. Once you do this, enemies will drop the laurels and you simply need to pick them up. When you pick up laurels generated by the same class as you you’ll get 3 points and if you pick up laurels of a different class to you it’s 1 point.
Do be aware that laurels don’t stick around for too long. Once they have been generated by ability kills, they do disappear – so try do try and pick them up as soon as you can.
In prep for farming laurels, there are a few exotic items that will help you by regenerating abilities quicker.
Exotic Armour to help farm laurels
Titan
- Hallow Fire Heart – Improves the recharge rate of Solar Abilities.
- Insurmountable Skullfort – Kills with Arc melee abilities trigger health regeneration and restores melee abilities.
- Ashen Wake – Final blows with Fusion Grenades grants grenade energy. If you have any demolitionist weapons they are always useful.
Warlock
- Crown of Tempest – Arc ability kills increase charge time of abilities
- Claws of Ahamkara – Gain an additional melee charge
- Nezarec’s Sin – Void kills increase ability recharge rate
Hunter
- Shinobu’s Vow – Gain an additional grenade charge and skip grenades returns energy when it damages enemies
I’m sure there’s plenty of others out there, I’m more familiar with the Titan and Warlock exotic armour pieces as I tend to main those classes. Have a look in your vault and anything that regenerates abilities, gives you an extra grenade or melee charge will be good.
These exotic items will also help you progress towards other triumphs for class act completion to get Heir Apparent. They include:
- Renowned – Earn points from Super, grenade and charged melee kills
- Embrace The Light – 25 Super kills in Rumble playlist in Crucible
- Represent – Defeat enemies with abilities in Strikes and Nightfalls
Best locations to farm laurels
There are a few locations in the game where you can farm. You’ll want to select locations that have a lot of weaker enemies. This includes:
Altars of Sorrow – Head to the moon and you’ll find a bunch of enemies spawning in this event. You’ve got multiple waves of enemies and plenty of Thrawl to take out and you’ll be generating plenty of laurels in a short amount of time here. You’ll also have a chance of a weapon at the end of wave seven from the chest.
The Menagerie – This one is found on Nessus. As well as multiple enemies in this event, you and your teammates will be able to put down banners at the start, allowing you to quickly generate a super. If you haven’t unlocked this one then do the Invitation quest picked up from Benedict in the Tower.
Escalation Protocol – This one is found on Mars and once again there’s multiple waves of enemies to take care of. This one is in a big open space and you’re likely to find a team in there doing the event, so team up with them and take out the enemies with your abilities.
The Reckoning – This is another event which is full to the brim of weaker enemies and multiple waves. There’s a quest to access The Reckoning, but if you haven’t done this then it’s worth it for a chance to get rolls of Spare Rations and other Reckoning weapons.
Finally, you can always check out public events as they’re always going on around the Solar System. You’re not going to get as many smaller enemies here, and things will be a little slower, however, if you don’t want to work through any quests to unlock events (if you haven’t done them before) then this is going to be a very easy option for you.
If you can try to team up with fireteam members of the same class, as if you’re picking up laurels related to the same class, then they are going to count for 3 points whereas if you hand around with guardians that are not your class, the laurels they generate are only going to count for 1 point. If you’re a solo player then this won’t be too much of a problem. However, you can use LFG sites like destinytracker or the Bungie companion app.
Let me know down in the comments where you’re farming laurels, what exotics are you using and what your farming technique is.
