With each season in Destiny 2, we get mods for our armor and weapons and they can be combined with exotics to buff your Guardian and provide new and fun ways to play. The following is a guide for an Ashen Wake Titan PVE build for grenades and supers.
Bungie buffed a few exotics for Season of the Worthy and there was a nice improvement to a Titan Exotic Arms called Ashen Wake. When combined with the right ingredients, this can add to up to a whole lot of fun for all you Titan’s out there. This has been highlighted by Chevy/Paul Tassi, so credit goes out to them for this build.
Here are the basic build ingredients:
- Middle Tree Sunbreaker Titan
- Ashen Wake (Exotic Titan Arms)
- Demolitionist mods on weapons
- Ashes to Assets mod on class item
Middle Tree Sunbreaker Titan
Here you want to take advantage of Roaring Flames. It says “Kills with your solar abilities increase those abilities’ damage. Stacks up to three times”. Roaring Flames is good to buff the throwing hammer, but pair this with Ashen Wake to buff grenades too, giving you two projectiles with high damage.
This is the focus point of the build. The main perk on this weapon is called Bring the Heat which says ” Fusion Grenades now explode on impact and gain increased throw speed. Final blows with Fusion Grenades grant grenade energy”. This was originally introduced in Season 2 of Destiny 2 and you can get this one from Exotic world drops and Xur sales plus the Exotic engram.
Back in update 2.8.0, Bungie buffed Ashen Wake by saying “Killing an enemy with a Fusion Grenade while wearing this exotic now refunds grenade energy. This scales with the enemy types”
You get about 33% of grenade energy back for a red bar kill, 50% for orange bar and 100% for the yellow bar. This works well with the original perk that makes fusion grenades fastball and explode on their targets.
This is a perk that was introduced in Season 6 and the description reads “Kills with this weapon generate grenade energy. Activating your grenade ability reloads this weapon from reserves.”
As you’re getting grenade energy refunded on each grenade kill, you’ll want to boost your grenade energy, even more, to get as close as you can to infinite grenades. Demolitionist weapons are going to help you out here.
So dig out your favorite Demolitionist weapons or try and farm for some. During the recent Iron Banner, I got a Wizened Rebuke Fusion Rifle, and I found a grenade launcher in the vault too. Check out Destiny Item Manager (DIM) and search for ‘Demolitionist’ and you’ll find the weapons with that perk.
Ashes to Assets class item mod
As well as loads of grenades and a powered-up throwing hammer you can also boost your super regeneration. There’s a solar class item mod called Ashes to Assets, this was originally released in Season 4 and says “Gain bonus Super energy on grenade kills”. There’s also Enhanced Assets to Ashes, which boosts super energy regen even more.
To put this all together you’ll want to do something along the lines of this:
- Stack Roaring Flames with hammers and fusion grenades.
- Get energy back on grenade kills.
- Get more energy back from Demolisitionist weapons
- Throw grenades
- Throw hammers to keep up roaring flames
- Get super
- Unleash super
Once you’ve created you’re building then head into a PVE activity. In Season of the Worthy, we have the Seraph Towers and this build can help you clear a whole bunch of ads quickly. Load up the Seraph Towers on the Moon or the EDZ and start throwing those grenades and hammers.
Let me know down in the comments what you think of this PVE Titan build. Do you have any additions to make the build better and what’s your recommendations for other Titan builds?
