Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Day 3 Checklist

It’s the third day on the island and things are really shaping up. The museum is under construction and we’ve learnt some new DIY recipes to be able to make some essential tools to gather resources, which will definitely come in handy for the third day. The following is a guide for the third-day checklist in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

When you wake up you’ll notice you’re tent has been converted into a house! You can do a few things in the house like turn the lights on and off, enter decorating mode and open the storage. Now is probably a good time to craft some items for the house and start making it look a little more like home, as having a camp bed and radio isn’t the best look.

Don’t forget to chat to your neighbours and also check into the Nook Stop, as you’ll get some Nook Miles for checking in. If you’re lucky your neighbours will reward you, one of mine, for example, gave me some Iron Nuggets!

Help build the store

Have a chat with Timmy and he’ll talk to you about a project related to building a store for your island. You’ll need to collect 30 pieces of hard, soft and regular wood. You’ll also need 30 iron nuggets. Use the Axe or the Shovel and harvest the rocks and trees on the island. Hopefully, if you’ve been harvesting the resources for a few days you’ll be close to gathering all the iron nuggets you need by now.

Tom Nook will give you a Nook Ticket if you need to get some extra resources then use that to go to a new island and gather more resources. Once you have the resources required, head back and speak to Timmy and donate them. He’ll ask you to go out on the island and pick the location of the store, do that and head back to the store to finish up with Timmy.

Visit the Airport

The airport will now be open for business, allowing you to do a few things:

  • Invite players via local play and online
  • Visit other players via local play or online
  • Visit random islands via a Nook Ticket

Have a chat with Orville, the bird at the counter in the airport and he’ll inform you of the different ways you can play locally or online. You can invite players on the local network, either with a code or just open the gates. You can do the same online, but it’s worth noting you may end up with random people on the island, so it’s something to be aware of.

You can also use Nook Tickets to go to new islands. This is a great way to finish up the resource gathering for the island, as you might be a little short for Iron Nuggets.

When you travel to new islands have a chat with the residents there and also collect fruit and flowers that are not available on your island, as you can take them back. For example, I picked up some coconuts and planted them back on my island outside my house.

Gather more resources

Keep going around the island and collect things like wood, clay and stone. These are going to come in handy in the next few days.

Start paying off your debt

By now you have probably made a whole bunch of money. You can start paying off the 98,000 bells you owe for the house by using the Nook Stop in the tent where Tom Nook is.

Use the machine, you can select the ABD option and start paying off the loan. You can also add some money into your savings account if you want to. As you go round the island, collecting shells or catching fish you can sell them back to Tommy.

Let me know down in the comments how you’re getting on with island life.
