Animal Crossing: New Horizons – How to get the Vaulting Pole
Exploring the island is an important part of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and at first, some of your island is going to be locked off and you won’t be able to access the full potential of the resources on the island. To be able to get to these new areas you’ll need a new tool allowing you to jump the rivers. The following is a guide for how to get the vaulting pole in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Gathering resources helps you unlock new features in the game and to maximize your experience on the island, you’ll want to be able to explore everywhere allowing you to get the most wood, fish, and bugs.
To unlock the Vaulting Pole have a chat with Tom Nook (ideally on the first day, but when you do this is up to you) and donate 5 species of fish and bugs to him. He’ll then send the call out to his Owl friend Blathers. Pick a location for Blathers to set up his museum and he’ll then arrive the next day.
Blathers will reward you with a couple of useful recipes, one being the vaulting pole. You’ll need 5 pieces of softwood to craft the vaulting pole, and you can collect this by hitting trees with the Axe.
Once you’ve crafted the Vaulting Pole you’ll then be able to jump over rivers and access 100% of the island! Now you can access these locations you’ll have more access to trees for their wood, fruit, shells on the beach, fish in the sea and fossils found in the cracks on the floor. Just watch out for those nasty bugs!
Let me know down in the comments how you’re getting on with exploring your island, what species have you found?
