Animal Crossing: New Horizons – How to find fossils
Blathers is opening a museum in your town and fossils will come in handy to be put on display and fill up the museum with the history of the island. The following is a guide on how to find fossils in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The first step to getting the fossils is to get Blathers to come to the island by donating 5 species to Tom Nook, he’ll then send out word to Blathers to come to the island. Once he arrives the day after, he’ll give you the recipe for the flimsy shovel. You’ll need 5 pieces of hardwood for this item, so hit trees with the axe to get the dark coloured wood to pop out.
Once you have the 5 pieces of hardwood go to the tent when Tom Nook is and craft the flimsy shovel. Blathers will also give you a recipe for the Vaulting pole, as you may need this to explore 100% of the island.
What you want to do is look out for cracks on the floor and when you see one of these use the shovel to dig up the fossils. Don’t sell them at the moment, keep them for when Blathers opens up the museum. Have a look around the island and try and get as many as you can, as I’m sure Blathers will reward you for your hard work and donations to the museum.
Let me know down in the comments how you’re getting on with finding fossils.
