Destiny 2 – How to get Hammerhead (Legendary Machine Gun)
Hammerhead is a legendary machine gun introduced during season 5 of Destiny 2. This is a popular one for PVP and PVE and sits high there in the competitive PVP charts, as it tears through Guardians like nobodies business. The following is a guide for how to get Hammerhead in Destiny 2.
The best way to earn the Hammerhead Machine Gun is through the Black Armoury and unlocking the forges. If you haven’t opened up the forges before then follow these steps:
- Visit Spider in the Tangled Shore
- Enter the Annex area of the Tower and talk to Ada-1
- Get a Weapon Core from a Black Armory Crate, and collect 25 Compound Ether from Fallen enemies
- Get multi-kills and Hive kills using a Power Weapon
- Defeat 25 Powerful Enemies
- Collect Radiant Seeds from Powerful Enemies
- Return to Ada-1 and visit the Volundr Forge
For a more detailed guide on completing that quest check out Esoterickk’s guide.
Once the forges are opened up you can go back to Ada-1 in the tower and pick up the machine gun frame to farm for this weapon. After this, you have to prepare the frame, and have a look at the frame itself and complete the quest steps on there. Speak to Ada, then complete the weapon by running the daily forge found on the EDZ (note, they rotate daily). Basically, pick up the frame and then follow the instructions on there to get your machine gun.
Hammerhead is a Legendary Machine Gun found in the heavy slot. It’s an adaptive frame, so it’s got a well-rounded grip, it’s reliable and sturdy. It’s a 450 rounds per minute machine gun with 60 in the magazine. This can roll with perks like Surrounded, High Impact Reserves and quickdraw – plus a few others.
The curated roll comes with feeding frenzy for that increase in reload speed after kills and rampage for the increase in damage after kills, so those two work really well with each other.
Let me know down in the comments what you think of Hammerhead? How do you think it compares to other hand cannons and is it something you’ll be taking into competitive PVP playlists like Trials or Iron Banner? Also, big thanks to Die – a member of the This Week In Video Games community for recommending this weapon, shout out to you dude.
