Destiny 2 – How to get Bygones (Legendary Pulse Rifle)

Bygones is a legendary pulse rifle which has proven to be one of the best all-round weapons for both PVE and PVP. It can come with some great rolls too and should be part of your arsenal. The following is a guide for how to get Bygones in Destiny 2.

The good news is that is one is fairly easy to get although you have to rely on a little RNG. Play Gambit matches or complete Drifter bounties.

Before you start farming for this weapon go and visit The Drifter and pick up all the available Gambit bounties you can. The Drifter hangs out in the Tower near the Annex. You can check him out on the director, highlight him and that will provide a waypoint so you can find him easily. The bounties usually have Gambit objectives on them like kill certain enemies with different weapon types, invading and other similar objectives. By completing these bounties you’ll have a chance for Bygones to drop.

Once you have picked up the bounties go to Gambit. This can be found on the director. Complete the Gambit match and at the end of the match, you have a chance for Bygones to drop. If you don’t get it the first time, give it another go and eventually it will drop for you. Each reset you get the chance at a Powerful Gear drop, complete Gambit matches to do this and you’ll have another chance at the weapon.

Bygones was also available during Season of Dawn from the Mars and Tower Obelisk. However, these features are going away from 9th March 2020. If you’re quick and have some spare fractaline, then you can easily farm for a god roll Bygones. If you’re watching this in the future, then don’t worry about this option as words like Obelisk and fractaline might not make much sense. Ah, Season of Dawn…

Bygones is an Adaptive Frame Pulse Rifle with a 390 rate of fire and 38 in the mag. It can drop with perks like Rampage, rangefinder, kill clip, outlaw, full auto and more. Light.gg states the god roll is kill clip / full auto although I was pretty happy with my Outlaw / Rampage roll.

This one is great in PVE and Gambit for mowing down ads. It’s also useful in PVP too depending on the meta at the time. Pulse rifles had their time in the spotlight during parts of the Forsaken expansion, and although sidearms, hand cannons and auto rifles are looking good going into Season of the Worthy you never know how the meta will shift and Pulse Rifles will come back around again… it’s all cyclical. Bygones is fairly consistently near the top of the competitive PVP charts, showing it’s a popular weapon whatever the meta may be.

Let me know what you think of Bygones down in the comments – how do you think it compares to other pulse rifles and which rolls did you get?
