Destiny 2 – How to get Breakneck (Pinnacle Auto Rifle)

Breakneck was introduced into Destiny 2 as a Pinnacle Weapon during Season of the Forge last year. The following is a guide for how to get Breakneck in Destiny 2.

Breakneck is a kinetic precision auto rifle that you can get through playing Gambit. To get this weapon you’ll want to go and visit the Drifter in the Tower and pick up the pursuit. Once you have this go into Gambit and you’ll need the following:

  • 500 auto rifle kills
  • 100 auto rifle multi-kills
  • Kill 150 challenging enemies
  • Complete 40 gambit matches

Breakneck comes with Rampage and Onslaught, which is great for Gambit as you would expect with this being a gambit pinnacle weapon. Rampage allows you to stack damage as you get the kills and onslaught is the perfect combo as it increases the rate of fire for each rampage stack.

Breakneck is a kinetic, primary auto rifle which is a 450 RPM auto rifle and has 34 in the magazine. It’s got good range and comes fully master worked when it drops.

There’s going to be a buff to auto rifles in Season 10 and they include:

Some small tweaks have been made to give Auto Rifles a small boost in efficacy for the Crucible—though they also influence PvE. The nature of the way Destiny is played tends to have Semi-Auto based weaponry be more effective in general and so we’re compensating for that with these tweaks.

These are fairly modest changes intended to give Auto Rifles more of a chance in an open fight without attempting to drag the TTK of the entire game down.

The following impact values have changed:

  • Precision Frame
    17/27.2 Default/Precision (Previously 17/25.5)
  • Adaptive Frame
    15.75/25.2 Default/Precision (Previously 13.75/22)
  • Rapid-Fire Frame
    13.4/20.1 Default/Precision (Previously 12.5/18.75)
