Destiny 2: Shadowkeep – How to get the Deathbringer (Exotic Rocket Launcher) Guide

This is a walkthrough for the quest steps for the Deathbringer, a new exotic rocket launcher found in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep. Deathbringer is a great new exotic weapon and certainly earns the label ‘exotic’ as it has a unique firing mechanism on the weapon which rains down void energy on enemies. There are a few things you need to do to start up the exotic weapon quest.

Complete the campaign

First up you have to complete the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep story campaign. This will give you access to two things; Eris Morn bounties and a quest item called ‘Memory of Sai Mota’. It’s a good idea to 900 or above for this questline, especially as the final step is 920 and if you’re doing that solo then it’s going to be tough if you’re below 900. I was about 907-910 throughout and did the quest solo.

Complete ‘Lunar Spelunker’ bounty from Eris Morn

Once you have access to Eris’ bounties you’ll want to complete one called ‘Lunar Spelunker’. This bounty will have you visit three Lost Sectors on the Moon and loot their chests. This includes K1 Communion, K1 Logistics and K1 Crew Quarters which can be found in Archers Line and Anchor of Light areas. On completing the Lunar Spelunker bounty you’ll get a Firewall Data Fragment.

Complete Memory of Sai Mota

This is a quest item that drops for you at the end of the campaign, and it’s not immediately obvious to what it does – but hold onto it. Once you have access to the Firewall Data Fragment you want to take this to K1 Revelation Lost Sector in Sorrows Harbour, run through as normal killing all the enemies. Instead of exiting you want to jump up into the pipe and go through to the back where you can input the data fragment and open the door. Once you are through the door process the data fragment to receive Sai Mota’s Broken Necklace.

Collect Necklace Scraps

Now you have the broken necklace you’ll need to collect broken necklace scraps before giving it back to Eris. To do this you’re going to need to equip Arc abilities and defeat Nightmares on the Moon. The best place to do this is outside the Scarlett Keep and run around killing Nightmares until you have enough scraps to move onto the next step.

Speak to Eris Morn

Once you have repaired Sai Mota’s Broken Necklace go back to Eris. She’s not standing where she usually is, so head through the portal and find her. Go through the portal, straight ahead and then around to the right in the Enduring Abyss. Go left and up and Eris is hanging out with her dead Guardian buddies. Give the necklace back to Eris and open up the chest to start the Deathbringer Exotic Quest. You can also chat with her more to find out some lore about her fireteam. In the chest, you’ll find ‘Faculties of the skull’ quest step and get a nice powerful drop, which should bump up your power.

Symphony of Death – Circle of Bones Explored

First up in the quest you want to head to the Circle of Bones to investigate. You’ll want to head to the Hellmouth entrance and then go underground and through the tunnels. This is near the entrance to Phogoth’s lair.

Go to your map and put a marker on the quest and then follow the in-game prompts. The quickest way there is to land in Sorrows Harbor, drive towards the Hellmouth and then go underground. Go through The Gatehouse and continue round and down. Dead Guardians will guide your way to the Circle of Bones. Once you reach your destination, the quest marker will become active. Start the next quest step by activating it.

Faculties of the Skull mission

In this mission, you’ll want to go back to where you fought the Nightmare of Phogoth and defeat all the Hive in there. First of all, speak to Toland who’s by the door and he’ll give you a little back story. He basically says kill them all, so do that. Once all the Hive have been destroyed pick up the Silent Skull. Toland says there’s great power in the skull if you find the path to wield it.

Tainted Lullaby – Marrow’s Elegy

Now we have the skull we want to go back to Eris. She asks us to find three bone artefacts – Festering Bone, Ritualistic Bone and Bone Collectors Marrow.

First of all, go to the K1 Revelation Lost Sector in Sorrows Harbour and run through killing all the enemies. When you loot the chest you’ll be rewarded the Ritualistic Bone.

Next up, hang out in Anchor of Light and wait for the Bone Collector to show up. For me, he appeared pretty swiftly and I didn’t have to do anything specific. Just find him and kill him and he’ll drop the Bone Collectors Marrow.

Finally, go near the Hellmouth and wait for the public event there where you have to kill the two wizards. Complete that to get the Festering Bone.

Thy Honored Conduction – Kill The High Conductor

For the next part of the quest, you’ll want to go back to the Scarlett Keep and kill a specific wizard towards the end of the strike. This can be accessed from the director on the map of the moon. Work your way through the strike and when you get to the end section there’s a part where you have to travel up a lift, killing enemies as you go. At the second stop, there’s a wizard called Sulmakta, High Conductor. Kill the conductor and move onto the next step.

Of Darkest Harmony

The next step is about filling up percentage bars by killing red, orange and yellow bar enemies. I found the best way to do this was to run around the moon looking for Vex incursions on the Moon, Lost sectors and Sorrows Harbour. I was doing this solo and it took me about 15-20 mins. The Vex incursions were great for the red bar mobs of enemies whereas Sorrows Harbour was great for bosses. One all the bars have filled up to 100% it’s onto the next step.

Choir Of The Damned

The final part of the quest is called Choir of the Damned which is a very cool mission back in the depths of the Hellmouth. Go back to where we picked up the previous Faculties of the Skull mission earlier in the questline and start-up Choir of the Damned. This is a 920 mission so it might be worth going in with a team if you are hovering around 900 for this. Or you can do what I did and take it real slow.

The objective here is to stop the Death Singer singing her song before the timer runs out. To stop the timer you have to break her shields, whereby she then goes to hide before she starts singing again. Toland is there to give you advice along the way. My tactic for this mission was to take things slow, clear out the adds before I went in too gun-ho as I was only 910 at the time. Clear out the smaller enemies and watch out for the Orges, as they had a nasty habit of popping up.

Keep going through the level chasing down the Death Singer as you go. When you finally kill the Death Singer the final skull will be yours.

Pick up your Deathbringer from Eris Morn

The only thing left to do is head back to Eris Morn and pick up your brand new exotic rocket launcher, Deathbringer. It gives you a nice power bump too, which is useful for the power climb this season.

Test out the Deathbringer

Finally, now you have your brand new Deathbringer, head into battle and try it out. It’s a unique weapon that rains down void energy on your enemies. You want to pull the trigger then hold it in and release above enemies to the void energy attacks from above. It’s unique, looks pretty cool and is a powerful addition to your arsenal.

That’s it for this walkthrough of Deathbringer. Check out the rest of the Destiny 2: Shadowkeep guide. For more content like this subscribe to This Week In Video Games on YouTube today.
