Destiny 2: Shadowkeep – The Best Legendary Weapons for Season of Dawn

Season of Dawn is just days away which means changes are coming to Destiny 2. During Bungie’s recent reveal stream they said there was going to be a focus on long-range combat and the Solar element. In Destiny 2: Shadowkeep we were introduced to the Artifact, which opened up mods allowing us to adapt our Guardians to new play styles. With that in mind, I’m going to go over mods and the best legendary weapons for Season of Dawn. Let’s get into it.

This past week Bungie revealed the new Artifact, The Lantern of Osiris. The reveal stream covered a few mods that could be useful for the upcoming season – especially with the new six-person activity, The Sundial, in mind. We’re going to want to burn through the enemies as fast as possible and these mods are going to help us.

The mods are focused on long-range rifle class weapons and include.

  • Anti-Barrier Ranger (Weapon Mod) – Bows, Scout Rifles and Pulse Rifles. Grants weapon shield-piercing, bypassing combatant defences. Strong against Barrier Champions.
  • Unstoppable burst (Pulse Rifle Mod) – Aiming down sights loads a high-impact burst that staggers unshielded enemies. Strong against Unstoppable Champions.
  • Enhanced Unflinching Rifle Aim (Chest armour mod) – Greatly reduces flinching from incoming fire when aiming down sights any rifle class weapons
  • Enhanced Rifle Loader (Arms Armour Mod) – Greatly increases reload speed of rifle class weapons
  • Guardian Angel (Class item mod) – Grants a chance to generate healing orbs for you on scout rifles, sniper, bow and linear fusion rifle precision final blows

With these mods in mind, here are some of the top weapons for the Season of Dawn and one’s you might want to look out for with the new season just around the corner. These guns are all pretty easy to get, so if you’ve been playing Destiny 2 for some time then you may have these hanging around in your vault. If you’re a New Light player then I’ll run through how and where to get each of the guns, and which rolls to look out for.

Go Figure

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Kinetic
  • Element: n/a
  • Frame: Aggressive burst
  • Perks to look out for: Kill clip
  • Where to get: Legendary engrams and faction rank-up packages

Go Figure is a solid aggressive burst pulse rifle that’s relatively easy to acquire from legendary engrams and rank up packages. This is going to work well with many mods from Season of Dawn. I have one with Kill Clip and Moving Target, but this one can also roll with Outlaw, Rampage or Rangefinder.

Imperative

  • Weapon type: Scout rifle
  • Weapon slot: Kinetic
  • Element: n/a
  • Frame: High impact
  • Perks to look out for: Moving target
  • Where to get: Vex Offensive

Imperative is a high impact scout rifle, available through the Vex Offensive. This is going to work well with the mods from the artifact and should be a good weapon to help you through the Sundial. I’ve got a roll with Subsistance and Snapshot Sights but Moving Target and Explosive Payload are good rolls too.

Last Perdition

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Energy
  • Element: Void
  • Frame: Adaptive Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Rampage, rangefinder
  • Where to get: Crucible

Last Perdition may not be best in class, but it’s a trusty Pulse that’s going to serve you well. Easy to farm for through crucible drops or tokens at Shaxx. Rangefinder and rampage is a good roll and here I have Rangefinder and Zen Moment.

Claws of the Wolf

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Energy
  • Element: Void
  • Frame: Rapid Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Full auto, outlaw
  • Where to get: Iron Banner

Claws of the Wolf is a rapid-fire frame pulse which is effective in PVP and PVE alike. This one isn’t Solar and is a little harder to get as it’s available through Iron Banner – which isn’t around the whole time. However, well worth your time if you can get it. I’ve got Outlaw and Full-Auto. As with the other pulse rifles on the list, this one is going to be great with Unstoppable burst found on the artifact.

Nameless Midnight

  • Weapon type: Scout rifle
  • Weapon slot: Kinetic
  • Element: n/a
  • Frame: Precision Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Explosive payload
  • Where to get: Vanguard

Nameless Midnight has been a staple of Destiny 2 since the start and is a precision frame scout. It can drop with explosive payload and is easy to get via ranking up with Zavala through Vanguard tokens. A good roll to look out for here is Explosive Payload, I’ve got one with Triple Tap and Rampage.

Bygones

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Kinetic
  • Element: n/a
  • Frame: Adaptive Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Full auto, kill clip
  • Where to get: Gambit

Bygones is a great pulse rifle that drops from Gambit and should be relatively easy to get hold of. It can drop with Full-auto and Kill Clip, but I’m pretty happy with Outlaw and Rampage.

Valakadyn

  • Weapon type: Auto rifle
  • Weapon slot: Energy
  • Element: Solar
  • Frame: Rapid Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Under pressure
  • Where to get: Gunsmith

Valakadyn is an auto rifle, but once again it’s a Solar weapon so should work well and will benefit from many of the mods as it’s a rifle class. This one is pretty easy to get as a random drop from the Gunsmith, so hand in those weapon parts and open a few engrams to get this one. Under Pressure is a good roll, I’ve got one with Snapshot Sights and High Impact Reserves.

Adhortative

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Energy
  • Element: Solar
  • Frame: Adaptive Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Full auto trigger
  • Where to get: Vex Offensive

Adhortative is another pulse, which will be good with the mods from the artifact. It’s another Solar weapon, which is the element focus of Season of Dawn and potentially drops with Full Auto. This one comes from the Vex Offensive, so there are only a few days to grind for this one to pick it up. I’ve got Head Seeker and Firmly Planted here, so I could do with a better roll.

Outlast

  • Weapon type: Pulse rifle
  • Weapon slot: Energy
  • Element: Solar
  • Frame: Rapid Fire
  • Perks to look out for: Kill clip, Zen moment
  • Where to get: Gambit Prime, Reckoning

Outlast should be good as it’s a pulse and will work well with the mods from the artifact. It’s also a Solar weapon, which is going to be the elemental focus of Season of Dawn. I like the rapid-fire pulse as they work well in both PVP and PVE. To get this weapon play Gambit Prime or The Reckoning. A good roll is Kill Clip and Zen Moment, however, I’ve got Feeding Frenzy and Rampage on this one.

I hope this gives you some idea of guns to chase before the season starts (with the Vex Offensive in mind) but also ones to chase once the season begins. There’s most likely going to be new guns and mods to chase opened up to us all once the season starts, so I’ll probably do an update once we’re all going on the Season of Dawn, but for now – happy hunting!

Let me know down in the comments which guns you’re going to be chasing and what you think are the best legendary weapons for Season of Dawn.
