Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford has confirmed that cross-play won’t be a feature at launch for Borderlands this September. However, they’re working on it and want it to be in play soon.
Cross-play has been a talked-about feature for the game since the reveal of Borderlands 3 earlier in the year. Fans had hoped that it might be there for launch as the game launches on September 13th on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
Other games have recently jumped on the cross-play bandwagon including Dauntless. It feels as if cross-play should be a standard in video games in the future.
There was some speculation the cross-play would be the subject of the next reveal, however, Randy Pitchford came out on Twitter to throw a bucket of cold water on that by saying “Some folks may be speculating that this thing tomorrow maybe about cross-play. Tomorrow’s thing is awesome but *not* about cross-play. But, Good News: We are committed to supporting cross-play for Borderlands 3 with our partners as soon as practicable after launch”.
