On 23rd January Nintendo showed off their latest indy titles coming to Switch in 2019.
Indies boomed in 2018 with hits like Celeste, Dead Cells, Hollow Knight, Stardew Valley, Gris, Undertale and Into The Breach – many of these games making the industries Top 10 lists of the year.
With such a strong showing of first party titles in 2017 including Mario Oddessey, The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart & Splatoon 2 – 2018 was a little underwhelming on the first-party front with a line up that included Kirby, Mario Tennis and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate. Nintendo’s indie line up certainly helped fill those gaps with many people wanting to play their favourite games on the move.
Nintendo’s indie showcase included:
16-bit sci-fi action RPG. Getting some great press and reviews recently. It looks like it’s cut from the same cloth as The Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past. The great news is that this port includes exclusive Nintendo Switch content. Definitely looking forward to playing this one.
Atmospheric puzzle platformer. Looking forward to playing this one. 16bit visuals. Something is lurking and it’s coming to Nintendo Switch. Creepy music and visuals, looks great.
Have you ever thought about what it’s like to me a goat? Not the greatest if all time, but an actual goat. This is the game for you. This one looks utterly bonkers. Here’s some of the things you see in the trailer. Giraffe flying from a chopper. Microwave on legs. Dolphin in a wheelchair. The game is out right now and includes all the DLC so far.
Also Unruly heroes, a turn based strategy game, Wargroove, a rhythm cross with a shooter, Double Kick Heroes, construction game When Ski Lifts Go Wrong and Steam World Quest.
This looks like a good start to 2019.
